This teacher training retreat will give you a deep understanding of the Five Elements and how you can use it in your own life, yoga practice and yoga teaching. This retreat is open to anyone who wants to explore these teachings in a beautiful setting with dedicated teachers but it is especially beneficial for yoga teachers who would like to complement their teachings with the Five Elements teachings and movements. The Five Elements concept is one of the oldest philosophical concepts which teaches us how to balance our character and improve the quality of our life. The theory expounds that five elements - fire, water, air, earth, and space (or spirit ) - constitute all things in our universe.

Since 1989, Five Elements guesthouse has offered a peaceful stay for travelers and visitors of Rovinj. The guesthouse offers accommodation to suit every need. From single and double rooms for couples or friends, to fully equipped apartments with a kitchen and private balcony. The guesthouse also offers a communal yoga studio and yoga lessons, a nice garden for socializing, and an outdoor kitchen and dining area.

Program

Five Movements for 5 Elements

Five Movements for 5 Elements are unique body exercises that energize the body and stretch the whole spine and neck. These movements can be performed any time during the day, for example at the beginning of your yoga class, at sunrise and sunset or during a break during work. Each movement is dedicated to the Five Elements with the purpose of connecting with Nature.

The Five Movements are designed to salute the Sun, the Moon and the Five Elements of nature, therefore it is beautiful to perform them outdoors facing the sun, the moon, the clouds, the ocean, the mountains, a river, or any place that is special for you.

To perform them, it takes only 5 minutes but since each of the Five Movements is repetitive, you can do them as many times as you want. The benefits will improve the more times you do them.

The Five Movements are combinations of Tantra yoga, Viyayam, Qi Qong, and Shiva dance. They are similar exercises like Sun-salutation or 5 Tibetans but even better because:

  • They are performed in a standing position so you do not need a mat
  • They stretch the spine in all directions
  • They are dedicated to Nature so they have a deeper meaning

This is a 14-day intensive program divided into two weeks:

Week one

The training will focus on self-improvement with 5 meditations, instruction about the 5 Elements philosophy and teachings through lectures and discussions.

Week two

The training will focus on how to teach the Five Movements and how to incorporate the Five Elements into teaching yoga or other spiritual techniques.

Sunday

  • 19:00 Welcome gathering with light dinner snacks
  • 20:00 Opening ceremony with the Five Elements introduction and ritual

Monday to Friday

  • 06:00 - 09:00 Five Elements ritual, meditation, Five Movements exercise and lecture. (If the weather permits, the class may be held outside)
  • 10:00 Breakfast / brunch
  • 12:00 - 17:00 Lecture and Five Movements
  • The afternoon program will take place outside, mostly in the park near the beach. You will have an opportunity to swim. In the case of bad weather, you will move indoors. Fruit will be provided as a snack at this time.
  • 17:00 Lunch/dinner
  • 19:00 Meditation

Saturday and Sunday

  • 06:00 - 09:00 Five Elements ritual, meditation, Five Movements exercise, and lecture.
  • 09:00 Breakfast
  • After breakfast on Saturday and Sunday there will be free time to do as you please. We don’t serve Lunch or Dinner on Saturday and Sunday. There is an outdoor kitchen where you can prepare your own food or there are many wonderful restaurants in town which you can walk or bike to.

Location

The retreat center is only two kilometers from the center of old town Rovinj, and 1.5 kilometers from the best beach and park. Guests will have bikes available all the time so in 10 minutes, you are everywhere. Restaurants are in five minutes' distance.

Food

From Monday to Friday, you will be served two meals per day plus the fruit as a snack in between. After breakfast on Saturday, there is free time until Monday. There will be no lunch/dinner on Saturday and Sunday so you can cook or prepare it for yourself or go for dinner in the restaurant).
