Paola started practicing yoga in 1998, in Argentina, with the Maestre Juan Haberfeld and it became her absolute passion in life. She continued her studies in Swásthya Yoga, the first University of Yoga founded in Brazil, where yogis from around the world congregate to learn from the masters and from each other. The Swásthya method includes asana yoga, Raja yoga, Bhakti yoga, Karma yoga, Jnana (Gyana) yoga, and Tantra yoga. She took her practice even further and lived and taught in the US, México, Costa Rica, and the Canary Islands.

I have been dreaming about trying a Yoga retreat for the past several years, and I finally bit the bullet and booked a week’s stay at 7 Lemons House in Lajares, Fuerteventura for the Christmas week 2016. I have to say I am so glad I did – it’s one of the best things I have ever done! From arrival I was greeted by the very graceful and friendly Laura and Heiko and made to feel extremely welcome. I was shown to my accommodation which was absolutely lovely, spacious and clean with everything you could need with a home from home, even the little details were a plus such as towels, beach towels, hairdryer etc. which was great as I didn’t have to bring them with me and I had more room in my luggage. Another nice touch was a bowl of fresh fruit was provided as well cooled bottled water in the fridge. The apartments are self-catering if you fancy a change from the meals provided but I doubt you will as the food prepared by Heiko was incredible! There was such a variety to suit everyone’s tastes and plenty of it too...you will not go hungry or thirsty as Laura and Heiko make sure all your needs are met. 7 Lemons House is not just about Yoga, it’s a complete package of activities including Pilates, Stand-up paddle boarding, hiking to the volcano crater (a must – you’ll see the beautiful little chipmunks), coastal walks, music therapy, massages and cooking classes (you can also do the Dune walks and trip to the Island of Lobos). In fact, you can pretty much opt in to what suits you and opt out of what doesn’t, and if there is something you would like to try then Laura and Heiko are only too happy to make arrangements for you. The yoga was brilliant; I was extremely rusty having not practiced for many years but the wonderful instructor Paula catered for all levels with all experiences. Pilates was also as good and I learnt a lot from Diane, our instructor. The outdoor space for taking the classes is in a stunning setting of lush tropical gardens, in a quiet, peaceful environment with beautiful mountain views. It really was an amazing time I spent there and I met some fantastic people that I am still in touch with. You never know who you will end up with on a retreat (unless you go in a group booking) and I feel so blessed and so lucky to have met such a group of wonderful people. I cannot thank Laura and Heiko enough for making my first yoga retreat so special and a Xmas that I will never forget. I would highly recommend 7 Lemons House, if not for the wide variety of activities, the marvellous food or the beautiful location but because Laura and Heiko truly make you feel welcome: like a home away from home.

The week at 7 lemons was a fantastic experience. I went for a Christmas Yoga retreat and felt totally relaxed and taken care of, there was plenty to do, but also lots of time for reflection and generally recovering from a busy year. The yoga was a great mix between gentle and active (I have been practicing for around 2 years) and the other activities were well thought out and organised. Some had to be changed around due to the windy weather in that week, but that really wasn't a problem and Laura kept us fully informed of any changes. The apartment where we stayed was comfortable and the location is spectacular, surrounded by volcanic scenery (there is a volcano you can walk up from the house) and a short drive from some great beaches. There is a fantastic garden where you can relax in the sun and Laura and Heiko are great hosts. Heiko is a great chef and the food was delicious and healthy. He also provided us with snacks whenever we wanted them, so I didn't feel hungry ever! All in all, a wonderful stay. I would definitely recommend 7 lemons!
Laura and Heiko were absolutely amazing hosts. I have been on several retreats all over Europe - also in Fuerteventura and 7Lemon beats them all. The apartments are fully equipped and hey think of everything - complimentary water, freshly cut fruits, an abundance of towels and a very spacious accommodation. The food that Heiko prepares is nothing short of 5 star spectacular. He is an amazing chef and even gave us some cooking lessons. The yoga was good although I have had much better teachers!! That would be my only criticism. But the pilates teacher was very good and as a teacher of pilates myself - I know a good teacher when I have one! The area for yoga is superb - peaceful, relaxing in a beautiful location. Lajares is a lovely little village and very close to El Cotillo - one of my favourite places. This retreat has it all and I will definitely be returning!
We had a great time in Lajares! Lajares is awesome when you are looking for some peace and relaxation. It is definitely not as overcrowded as some of the bigger towns. The accommodation of Laura and Heiko was beautifully decorated, really clean, and quite big. What we liked most was the great terrace. It was really nice to sit outside or to enjoy the sun! Nobody ever disturbed us but Heiko was always close by when we needed anything! We would love to go back any time.
We felt really comfortable! Everything was as described or better. The apartment is furnished with style and offers a lot of space, the kitchen is well equipped (we cooked dinner twice and didn't miss a thing). We especially liked the beautiful, lovely garden with a big table in the shadows and deck chairs. The location is a great starting point to hike and discover the northern part of the island. The sea is not far in any direction; however, a car is recommendable. Laura is a very nice and helpful host! Hint: print out the directions beforehand; we forgot to do so and the GPS does not work in this area.
We spent an amazing week. The apartment is really beautiful and quiet, just like the photos, and Laura welcomed us with great availability. We will come back soon!
This little piece of paradise was all we hoped for and more! Totally relaxing environment with all the facilities one really needs. The location between the town of Lajares and the nearby Volcano was great and, as we chose to walk everywhere, it meant we got to see so much of the local area. Laura was a lovely host and couldn't have been more helpful.
We spent some amazing days at Laura and Heiko's place. The house is super cozy and very clean. The garden is fabulous! Also, Laura's family is lovely and we felt right at home. We will be back for sure!
