Program

ANDEAN SCHOOL OF YOGA knows that the most authentic teaching comes from deep personal experience and from recognizing yourself as part of everything that surround you.

At ANDEAN SCHOOL OF YOGA, you will be guided by the expert faculty and guest teachers in the study of asana sequencing and pranayama techniques, exploring yogic Indian and Peruvian andean philosophy, learning an anatomical approach, practice teaching, and learning how to connect and build a strong relationship with nature and the different communities.

On the first day of training, you will receive a complimentary Andean yoga teacher 200-hour manual. Additional recommended texts include Anatomy of Movement (revised edition) by Blandine Calais-Germain, Yoga Resource by Darren Rhodes, Light on Yoga by B.K.S., Iyengar, and Light on Yoga Sutras by B.K.S. Iyengar.

Philosophy

As a 200-hour yoga teacher, you will gain a deeper personal relationship to yoga philosophy. With an emphasis on integrating Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the teachings of Vedanta philosophy with the teachings embraced by the Andean Cosmovision, you will learn how to respect, honor, and connect with mother earth, Pachamama.

Pranayama

Pranayama practices enable you to experience body-mind integration and purification through yogic breathing techniques. You will learn and practice creative ways of incorporating various types of pranayama into your posture sequences and create the ability to lead dynamic workshops for your students.

Principles of anatomy and physiology

This section will focus on safety, joint movement, range of motion, and a functional understanding of skeletomuscular systems and structures. You will be able to recognize and share with others the main muscle groups and structural alignments in order to guide a full didactic and inspirational practice.

Relaxation and meditation

By relaxation and meditation, you will become acquainted with the ability of centering yourself and your students. You will learn how to enable an inspirational environment to provide inward focus, guided meditation, and the cultivation of profound relaxation. You will also learn how to integrate the elements of nature and your connection with them as part of your practice.

Curriculum

The Andean yoga teacher training 200-hour certification includes both a consistent practice in technical skills and the development of an emphatic, intuitive approach to teaching, and the ability to promote the care and respect for your environment with the sensibility to help others and create self-sustainable earth loving communities.

You will be given the foundation to teach any population to which you feel called. Graduates of Andean yoga teacher training are in great demand for their in-depth knowledge, clear instruction, intuitive insights, and ability to guide students to the experience of inner peace and their leadership in bringing back the ancient knowledge of worshiping and protecting the interests of mother earth.

Andean yoga teachers can be found in highly competitive urban settings, in community yoga studios, permaculture or holistic medicine based retreats, and in the service of unattended minorities found in schools, prisons, hospitals, and unreached populations.

The Andean yoga teaching model incorporates many tools and techniques that enhance you in the development of your own self, empowering you with a set of skills and values that cultivates the ability and integrity to be a thorough representation of the essence within the practice of yoga.

As an ANDEAN SCHOOL OF YOGA graduate, you will head into the world confidently and ready to lead grounded, safe, and inspired gentle and moderate Hatha Vinyasa yoga classes. You will also learn how to offer modifications, postural options, the clarification of contraindications, the use of props, and how to create a complete series of classes with progressive levels of difficulty.
