Celebrate the summer with a super relaxed yoga and meditation holiday. Choose from a wide variety of activities: Hatha yoga, relax yoga, pranayama, diverse active and less active meditations or enjoy mantra chanting. The perfect week to deeply relax, de-stress and reconnect with your life energy again. It is near the biggest National Park in the Netherlands: the Veluwe. If you bring your bike or rent one, you can explore the vast forest and heather fields.
This accommodation is a monastery, right next to the big church in the village Vaassen. In earlier times, nuns lived here, but now it can be used for yoga and meditation retreats. Immediately as you step inside you feel the inner peace with which this place is permeated. There is a spacious yoga room, but probably you will be mostly outside in the lovely monastery garden for the yoga practice. There are terraces to eat outside as well and you can make a campfire in the evening. Should it rain; there is plenty of space inside as well.
The monastery has 10 sleeping rooms in which two people can sleep. You can book a place in a shared room for two (if you are female), a room for yourself or ask a friend and book a room for the two of you together. There are a few rooms with an own bathroom. If you book a room for the two of you, you can ask for a room with own bathroom and if it is available, you can pay an additional fee at your arrival of 50 EUR / week, 40 EUR / midweek or 35 EUR / long weekend.
This yoga and meditation retreat holiday is a lovely relaxed week in which you can let go of all tension. Enjoy the endless moment in the present and recharge yourself with life-loving spirit. You are being offered a nice varied program with space, inner peace and relaxation.
Each morning, you can join a hatha yoga lesson. The lessons are challenging and well doable for as well beginners as more advanced yogis. Tune into the possibilities of your body, so you get the most benefit out of it. Next to yoga poses, you will also do breathing exercises, yoga meditations and of course relaxation. The hatha yoga philosophy is not focused on a deep contact with your body, but Marloes will take into account the tantric principles out of which the hatha yoga developed, which means you will focus on the awareness in your body. Marloes considers your body a wise adviser and leading for how you can practice the yoga poses best. None of the meditations will carry you away from the contact with your body or with the earth, because she believes that especially the path downwards to the earth is important, becoming more and more present in your own body. Every night, you will do a relax yoga session, so that your sleep will be extra rejuvenating.
During the retreat you will do diverse meditations of yoga and other experience oriented traditions, like sufi or gnostic paths. Silence and sound meditations, mantra chanting, movement, standing, sitting or laying down meditations. Visualizations or focusing on what you perceive in your body. All meditations have their own effect, yet all lead to 'coming home’, living mindful and give you peace of mind. You have the option to do them all or just join the meditations that are most appealing to you, the choice is yours.
Next to the activities, there is sufficient time to take a nice walk, relax in the garden, make a camp fire at night and much more. Wednesdays and Sundays there are no classes in the afternoon and evening. You might want to do our own practice, visit the castle and its gardens nearby or rent a bike to go and experience the vastness of the heather fields and forest of the Veluwe.
And if you prefer at any time to relax in your own way rather than joining all of the activities, no problem; the activities are of an excellent standard, but they are not compulsory (except for the karma yoga). Therefore, couples could also join this holiday even if only one of you would like to participate in the group activities. To guarantee the peace, the minimum age is 18.
The program might slightly change, depending on the group.
Everybody contributes to the yoga and meditation week. Therefore, some household tasks are part of the program.
Please bring your own bed linen with you (fitted sheet, duvet cover and pillowcase) or if needed, you can rent it for 12.50 EUR.
The retreat will be held in a monastery in Vaassen, which is easily approachable by car and public transport (7 minutes walk from the bus stop). You will get the latest information a few days in advance.

Wednesdays and Sundays afternoon (after the Karma yoga) and evening there is no program. In this time, you can take a long walk, or rent a bike and explore the vast forest and heather fields of the beautiful Veluwe. Of course, you can also snuggle up in the monastery garden with a nice book or relax in your own way.
Marloes is a certified teacher with more than 15 years of experience. She has been interested in yoga, personal, and spiritual development since she was young. The renovation of a cargo ship to a passenger ship brought her enormous deepening and taught her trust and surrender. A deep trust that life gives you what is needed, even if it's difficult. Meditation is part of her life. She likes deepening an takes into account the tantric principles that were the origin for the Hatha Yoga. She strives to enthuse participants to integrate meditation and yoga in their daily life.
From the monastery, you can take a hike to a castle with its nice canal and splendid gardens. If you take a bike with you, or rent a bike, you can explore the forest and heather fields of the Veluwe, the biggest national park in the Netherlands.
All your meals are part of your package. Your meals will be vibrant and lovingly prepared with organic vegetarian products, which will be provided each full day.

Vaassen is near the Veluwe. Around 1:45 hours from Amsterdam Airport by public transport, but the trip is easy and will be definitely worth it.
Take a direct train to Apeldoorn, one bus which takes you nearby in 20 minutes and then it is just a 7 minute walk to the monastery.
If you come by car there are free parking spots available nearby.
