You will stay at a beautiful coaster which is rebuilt to be a yogaboat and is named Andere Boeg. The boat is rebuilt totally sustainable and is the most sustainable passengers ship in Europe. This ship is 55 meter long and more than 7 meter width and has lovely light, silent yoga studio and 11 comfortable cabins with top-quality mattresses.

This ship also has a beautifully designed bar, a modern kitchen, nicely decorated living room, comfortable bathrooms and two spacious decks. While you feel the gentle energy of the water under you, at the same time you can feel the stability and firm energy of the ship itself. Practicing headstands, trees or any other balancing poses will not be more difficult than on the shore!

This retreat holiday Yoga and Meditation is a lovely relaxed week in which you can let go of all tension. Enjoy the endless moment in the present and recharge yourself with life-loving spirit. You are being offered a nice varied program with space, inner peace and relaxation.

Hatha yoga

Each afternoon, you can join a hatha yoga lesson. The lessons are challenging and well doable for as well beginners as more advanced yogi’s. Tune into the possibilities of your body, so you get the most benefit out of it. Next to yoga poses, we also do breathing exercises, yoga meditations and of course relaxation.

The hatha yoga philosophy is not focused on a deep contact with your body, but we do focus on the awareness in your body. We consider your body a wise adviser and leading for how you can practice the yoga poses best. None of the meditations will carry you away from the contact with your body or with the earth because we believe that especially the path downwards to the earth is important, becoming more and more present in your own body. Every night, we will do a relax yoga session, so that your sleep will be extra rejuvenating.

Meditations

During the Yoga and Meditation weeks (July 9, August 18) you will do diverse meditations of yoga and other experience oriented traditions like sufi or gnostic paths. Silence and sound meditations, movement, standing, sitting or laying down meditations. Visualizations or focusing on what you perceive in your body;. All meditations have their own effect, yet all lead to ‘coming home’, living mindful and give you peace of mind. You have the option to do them all or just join the meditations that are most appealing to you, the choice is yours. - During the yoga and mantra singing weeks (Aug. 4 and 11), we will practice mantras in the mornings. Mantras are words or sentences. By repeating these phrases, you will soon get into a very nice, relaxing meditative state-of-mind. You will notice that your heart opens itself and life-energy starts flowing again or more vividly. Together we make sounds; we chant, sing and say the mantras or sometimes we let it flow silently. Each mantra has its own meaning, for example power, compassion or peace. By repeating the mantra, you will be filled with its energy.-

Daily schedule:

  • 8:30 – 9:30 Breakfast
  • 10:30 - 12:00 Morning meditations (diverse meditation forms or mantra meditations, depending on the week)
  • 12:30 – 13:30 Lunch
  • 16:00 – 17:30 Hatha Yoga
  • 18:00 – 19:00 Dinner
  • 19:00 – 19:30 Karma yoga (or at other time of the day)
  • 20:00 - Relax Yoga

Next to the activities, there is sufficient time to have a nice swim or float on an air mattress beside the ship, walk along the shore, play guitar on deck at night and much more … On board the ship Andere Boeg it is easy to be at one with all elements, and deeply relax. Let your creativity and life-loving spirit flow from this peace. If you prefer to relax on deck in the sun rather than joining all of the activities, no problem; the activities are of an excellent standard, but they are not compulsory (except for the karma-yoga). Therefore, couples could also join this holiday even if only one of you would like to participate in the group activities. To guarantee the peace aboard, the minimum age is 18.

From July 9 till 16 we are moored in the harbor of Nijmegen, the eldest city of the Netherlands. From here, you can walk to the quiet banks at the other side of the river Waal, to lay down at the beach in Lent or make a walk in the nature of Lent, along the banks of the river. You can also nicely stroll at the promenade of Nijmegen with its cozy terraces and beautiful views. Nijmegen is the eldest city in the Netherlands, has a lot of nice little shops and and a variety of old and modern architecture.

In August, Wageningen is our place. In the harbor, you can see the loading and unloading of the ships. From the ship, you are in one minute at the wetlands, a nice area of nature along the river Rhine. A little further, there is a beautiful botanical garden and if you want to walk a little longer, you can walk into the forest. Lots of nature to inspire you … and if you walk from the ship to the other side, you can enjoy the little city of Wageningen. With a few minutes you are in the heart of the city with its big church and surrounding square with terraces.

    PROS Pros: The surrounding area is really nice. We did a lot of outside yoga; at the banks of the river, in the water meadows and in a splendid botanical garden on top of a hill. Marloes is a great yoga & meditation teacher; she explains clearly, corrects my poses if necessary and adapts to every level. The ship is really big and it is lovely. Cozy cabins and a yoga studio which is peaceful and quiet. The food was very healthy and divers.

    Yogaboat

    PROS Pros: The whole experience was very pleasant from initially booking the trip. Marloes approach was in a very relaxed and non judgemental way. There was no pressure to push myself or my body or even my mind which I really appreciated as was looking for some downtime for myself. The boat was beautiful as was the cat and the yoga space within the boat was very special too. The food prepared was very healthy, colourful and tasteful too which Marloes partner helped with. Marloes and her partner were able to create a balanced and comfortable environment together which was very nice to be around. I hope to return one day!

    Organizer response: Jantine booked a private cabin for a weekend, for € 447,-. After this review, I changed the price for a weekend with a stay in a private cabin to € 350,-. The mooring place is a city harbor, which Jantine thought not very inspiring. There are splendid views in the neighborhood of the ship though, in one minute walk you are in the water-side meadows, but unfortunately Jantine could not enjoy this because she could not walk easily.

The boat is beautiful and there is a big room for yoga and the other activities.     "I really loved this Yoga relax weekend at Andere Boeg. My body is not 100% fit and Marloes adapted perfectly to that by giving me adjusted poses. I have experience with a large number of yoga teachers, and Marloes is one of the very few who is capable to exactly see what your body can do. She notices whether you do a pose well or not (and so, if you do not injure yourself), and if you do not, she explains what goes wrong and what you should be different or what alternative pose you can do. I also liked to see what amazing things others can do with their body (like Crow and Scorpio) and that still, Marloes could challenge them also with advanced poses. Now after the yoga weekend I have practiced for a few weeks at home and I notice my body becomes more fit and I can even do some poses that I could not do yet at the weekend, I am so happy with that. "

    "The food is delicious, Teus is a very creative cook. The accommodation is great and the view from the yoga room over the water surface is really special. The only negative point I can think of is that the cabins are a bit small, but of course that is part of the beauty of a ship. I gave this weekend to myself as a present. This yoga weekend was the first weekend I was away from home after the birth of my youngest son (almost 3 years) and I have slept wonderfully, 2 nights 10 hours straight; that was also a great contribution to the relaxation :).     "Ik kijk met bijzonder warme gevoelens terug naar de oud- en nieuw retraite. Het volledig jezelf mogen zijn en je kwetsbaar mogen opstellen is bijzonder fijn.     "De dagen met Oud en Nieuw vlogen voorbij, de inzichten, de stilte, de meditatie waren geweldig, en de begeleiding helemaal super. Loslaten en het nieuwe verwelkomen dat is wat het was, en dat was mooier als ik mezelf van te voren had ingebeeld. het eten was geweldig en de veiligheid binnen de groep was prachtig om te ervaren.
