The gracious eight-ensuite-bedroom French colonial-style homestead and cottage is situated on 16 acres of grounds and gardens with expansive views of the coastal hinterland. Retreat facilities include a mineral pool, gym, spa, infrared sauna, yoga studio, apothecary, medicinal herb, and permaculture vegetable gardens. The studio is stylish and versatile - a truly adaptable space. It works well for a small conference, board meeting, or corporate retreat with flexible conference furniture. The spacious deck looks out to stunning coastal views and is a great spot for a coffee or lunch break.

The Homestead dining room makes an elegant and peaceful venue for board or business meetings. There are many additional spaces for relaxing or gathering, such as the casual kitchen or family area and gracious living room, not to mention the shady verandah, sweeping gardens, and pool courtyard. The spacious Homestead lawn also offers the option of a large marquee for bigger conferences, functions, or events. Cape South has relationships with a whole range of local suppliers who can provide catering, technical, and all other equipment and services.

Homestead

It offers a sitting room, a dining room with seating for 12 people, a large breakfast room, a fully equipped kitchen, a laundry room, a snug, six ensuite bedrooms including three rooms with queen size beds, two rooms with a super king (zip and link) or twin beds, and one room with twin beds, Wi-Fi, DVD players and screen, and no television.

Cottage

This offers two ensuite bedrooms (one room with a queen-size bed and one room with twin beds), a living-dining area with wood stove and Wi-Fi, and a small kitchen.

Program

The program starts from 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22nd and you are welcome to arrive from 11:00 a.m. It ends by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 24th and you are welcome to leave by 5:00 p.m. Add-on option is available to arrive on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. and depart on Monday at 11:00 a.m. A nourishing blend of relaxation, movement, meditation, delicious organic seasonal food, learning, and most of all time to put yourself first is hosted at the luxurious Cape South Country Retreat and Wellness Center facilitated by Kate McLeay (Mumma Soulfood) and a team of her favorite local legends.

An opportunity to step out of life’s routines and dedicate real time to putting yourself first. Over the retreat, you will share wisdom on holistic wellness and how to positively enhance this for more clarity, ease, and enjoyment of life. With decades of experience in education, hospitality, and adventures, Cape South has seen the profound changes these experiences can bring and what happens when people take time for themselves. A menu of activities over the weekend is available to choose from, along with plenty of time to rest, connect, and rejuvenate.

Attend all on the schedule or select what makes your heart sing. On your retreat, you will have an offer nourishing daily mindfulness, yoga, mantra, and qigong. You will explore and practice multiple meditation techniques. You will experience the benefits of the deep rejuvenating practice, Yoga Nidra alongside Tibetan bowl sound healing. In addition to the mindfulness workshops, you will enjoy the food chats and vibrant company. Balanced with periods of silence to encourage reflection and mindfulness. You will have plenty of free time to relax and make the most of the beautiful venue and surroundings.

Your menu of activities is entirely optional and you can join in on as little or as much as nourishes your soul. Your whole body will thank you. You will learn new tips and tricks to incorporate back into your daily life. Cleansing the inside to glow on the outside. Keeping your body and mind in great shape to create and maintain a healthy, nourishing, and inspiring lifestyle. You will be given a firm foundation in the theories, benefits, and practices of mindfulness including

  • Experience different types of mindfulness (attention training, body scan, mindful self-inquiry, loving kindness, walking meditation, breathing techniques, and yoga
  • Gain an improved understanding of mindfulness theory and techniques
  • Learn about the traits of the mind
  • Explore your core values from a mindfulness perspective and consider the lens of your past experience on your current reality
  • Learn about brain wave patterns in relation to the stress response and how to skilfully regulate them
  • Visit current research on mindfulness and neuroplasticity
  • Practice mindful communication to improve relationships and resolve conflict
  • Explore the role of mindfulness training for self-care and stress management

You will take powerful tools and insights back into daily life so that you can live your life with a sense of ease, passion, and peace. 10 percent of profits help fund the teaching of Mumma soulfood prison mindfulness programs at Mangaroa Prison and Community Support Mindfulness with Kate McLeay.

Your food is full of nutrients, seasonal, fresh, and prepared with great love and care. It is wheat-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free. Usually predominantly plant-based. Local produce, organic, and homegrown from vegetable and apothecary gardens where possible. Cape South serves a range of nourishing alcohol-free medicinal drinks to heighten health and aid digestion - smoothies, juices, fire cider and kombucha home brews, Chinese and local tonic herbs.
