Private rooms with private bathrooms have an outside terrace with hammocks and overlooking the cards and Lake Atitlán. They are equipped with towels and soaps and come with a daily cleaning service.

Sample daily schedule

Your days begin with yoga practice, pranayama (breathing practices), and meditation as a blissful way of starting your day. Followed by a yummy nutritious breakfast buffet, herbal tea, and freshly brewed coffee. After breakfast, it is your time to relax, or explore nearby Maya Villages, except for the hiking day.

Lunch is served at 1:30 p.m. at the outdoor café overlooking the Lake Atitlán and gardens.

In the afternoon, you will attend inspiring workshops, lectures, and classes.

Sample of afternoon activities

  • Ayurveda introduction and personalized analysis of body type to help detoxify and understand various habits
  • Organic coffee and oil scrub body cleanse
  • Mind detox with dynamic meditations
  • Cleanse, detox, and reborn during a ceremony in traditional Maya temazcal (sweat lodge)

The retreat starts with an opening ceremony on Sunday afternoon and ends after breakfast on Saturday.

The Doron Yoga method (based in Ashtanga from primary through third series) blends yin and yang, core work, strengthening, and deep stretching. Classes offer challenging poses and sequencing, but the flow is slow, mindful, and focused.

Be ready for a great workout and lots of laughter, plus tips and teachings to help you advance rapidly.

Release the tension in your muscles, joints, and your mind, connect, explore, and let go of stored fears and emotions through Yin yoga sessions.

Improve your mental health thanks to tips and techniques regarding meditation. Learn Tibetan meditation techniques to reduce stress reduction and relax profoundly your mind and body. Dissolve whatever is blocking your meditation via dynamic meditation sessions.

Doron Hanoch

Doron Yoga & Zen Center is an eco-conscious yoga resort located in the breathtaking surroundings of Lake Atitlán. The welcoming home is situated in Tzununá (translates to Land of the Hummingbird) which rests amongst the many exceptionally unique villages surrounding the lake.

Tzununá is the perfect spot for reconnecting with yourself as it is one of the quietest villages around, populated mainly by Mayan locals. Amongst the various reasons that make the location special is the Tzununá River that runs through the garden with many meditations spots by it.

The main yoga shala sits along the Tzununá River, allowing for the sound of water to flow softly and soothingly into your daily practices.

Additionally, when keen on visiting the neighboring villages, you may relax knowing that you are only one short boat or tuk-tuk ride away! The closest village to Tzununá is San Marcos La Laguna, which is very popular amongst tourists.

Each meal is substantial, varied, and nourishing to energize you through your retreat journey.

The daily offerings have an international inspiration, mixing traditional Guatemalan fare with Doron’s Mediterranean touch. Meals are made from fresh produce and to the greatest extent possible, food is organic and locally sourced, sometimes from their own garden. Gluten-free and vegan diets can be accommodated upon request. Snacks are available throughout the day.

You will get a great balance of raw food, cooked food (with healthy oils), fermented foods, healthy sauces, homemade jams, and peanut butter, homemade granola, baked sourdough bread, freshly made tortillas, signature pizza from the clay oven, and so much more.

You will also get to enjoy the detoxifying power of Kombucha provided to you in shots every morning prior to breakfast. Here you will learn about your body type due to the ancient Ayurvedic dosha system, understand your nutritional needs and how to eat and think clean.
