The beautiful character of French house offers a high standard of luxury accommodation for 18 people. Some rooms include en-suite bathrooms and others are sharing. Facilities include access to extensive open grounds where one can walk and be completely immersed in nature.

Rooms vary from standard sharing for two persons in a deluxe double room, a private deluxe room, and en-suite bathrooms with stunning views. Amenities include eight hectares of stunning woodland and gardens for walking and stunning quiet spots for reading, painting, and writing.

During this retreat, you will:

  • Emily Gilchrist

    Emily started teaching yoga since 2004. She attended a spectrum of yoga classes and developed a keen interest in this ancient art. This took her to India over ten years ago where she trained intensively as an instructor at the Sivananda Ashram, Kerala. It was here that Emily studied and discovered the disciplines of yoga and became fully connected to the practice. Since then, she has completed further courses in yogic instruction through the school of Sivananda (Orleans, France), under the guidance of Swami Durgananda, Swami Kaislananda, and Swami Krishnananda.

  • Tritha Sinha

    Tritha is known for her versatile voice with throbbing intensity and moving emotional commitment​. Through her knowledge of Indian classical music and its beneficial effects for meditation and sound healing, Tritha conducts music and voice workshops in different parts of the world. Tritha was featured in BBC and in the most popular music show TRACKS on TV channel Arte. French TV show of Canal Plus, Les Nouveau Explorateurs, featured Tritha as a young Indian classical musician making unique contemporary styles. Her album “PaGli” was released with Sony Music in June 2014.

The Loire Valley, or La Valle de la Loire in French, is a stretch of 800 square kilometers surrounding the Loire River in central France. This riverbank region boasts beauty for all the senses with its abundance of gorgeous chateaus, quaint villages, vineyards and fruit orchards, as well as outdoor activities for all seasons. The weather of the Loire Valley is favorable for most of the year, offering a moderate climate that balances between the rain of Frances north and the heat of its south.

The area is dotted with many historic towns (most notably Angers, Blois, Chinon, Orlans, and the largest city of the region, Tours) all within driving distance from Montgoger. A day trip to any of these locations provides a glimpse into the regions urban life a unique mixture of historical landmarks and modern-day French culture. From children to the elderly, the architect to the cycler, the musician to the gastronomist, the Loire Valleys attractions are endless and can be tailored to all types of voyagers.

    "I'm so glad I booked this retreat! I wanted to go away for new year and Emilyoga's retreat in Ireland worked out perfectly. Sherkin Island was fantastic, the boat over was good fun, the hotel was ideal for what we wanted. The classes were lovely, with Emily and Angela working so well together and bringing different skills and talents to the classes. We had treatments and relaxation time, and the vision board making was good fun. Lovely group of people, will keep in touch. It was a great way to spend New Year, would highly recommend! :)"

    "I have spent three wonderful days with the fantastic Emilyoga in the beautiful castle of Montgoger. The place is beautiful but the best thing in this retreat was the excellent Emilyoga. She is an awesome yoga teacher. We practiced a lot of yoga, it was even sometimes hard, but called "good effort" and that's the way to reach the state of "samadhi" and as Emily explained to us, success to stop the fluctuations of the mental. Emily directed us to do a lot of asanas, very intensive but really good, she explained the different goals of yoga, and introduced us to the great thinking of the sutras of Patanjali, and taught us breathing exercises to purify the body and mind. We also ate vegan and healthy food. I really recommend everyone who wants to take a break and have a great, intensive practice, and a wonderful time to book a retreat with Emilyoga!"

    "I had a wonderful experience at the Chateau de Montgoger yoga retreat with Emily Gilchrist. Initially I was a bit nervous about joining the retreat since I'm not as flexible as I used to be and have recently began to practice yoga after a very long break. Emily is such a beautiful sweet and loving person who makes everyone feel comfortable. Her goal is truly to make sure you get as much as possible out of the retreat and I did.With her years of experience, she masterfully eased my stiff body into shape using blocks, bolsters, blankets to ensure I could reap the benefits of the practice. As this was a yoga/detox week, we not only practiced the Asanas (postures) but the other limbs of yoga such as Pranayama (breathing) and the Ayurvedic diet. The food was so amazing! Not only was it beautifully prepared with love but it tasted so delicious. I never thought I could eat vegan for a week, but I did and have decided to switch to a healthier vegetarian diet.After a few days I was totally renewed and by the end of the week was feeling better emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Do yourself a favor and dont hesitate to sign up for the next retreat with Emily"

    "I loved the Emilyoga retreat! Emily is such a fantastic person and wonderful, mindful, inspiring yoga teacher. We had great two hours and 15 minutes classes twice a day, thoroughly worked out lots of asanas! I learned so much about yoga (we watched a documentary), new types of breathing, and meditations. My boyfriend was fully new to yoga, and he loved the retreat. Although I've been practicing yoga for a few years, I learned a lot as well. Emily managed to meet the needs of different people. The way she led the practice is so gentle, innerspring and also intensive (only if you are ready for it)!The venue was fantastic - beautiful chateau, fields, and grounds for walking, running, and cycling. Another ruined chateau on the grounds with 17th-century dungeons. We had a fire ceremony, fantastic delicious vegetarian food, and great people!Today is my first day back to work, but I started it with 15 minutes of meditation with candles and aroma sticks, then 30 minutes of yoga! They've all been thoughtfully orchestrated weekends of relaxation, meditation, purification, and yoga practices suitable for all levels of participants.
