The hotel is wonderful; the beach beautiful and the Spa is sumptuous and has great treatments. However the yoga was disappointing as it was more meditation with movement than traditional yoga. The teacher found it hard to adapt his style to suit us when we asked for more movement with a traditional Hatha/ Vinyasa style. I would suggest other travellers looking for a yoga holiday look to more traditional teaching styles unless they are looking for a meditation/ breath focus with movement as a secondary consideration. I would return to the hotel but not the same style of holiday.
Response from EPIC SANA Algarve Hotel:
Dear Mrs. Clare Morgan,
Thank you very much for sharing your valuable feedback. We were very pleased to learn that you have enjoyed our property and also it’s beautiful surroundings. Regarding your concerns we were very intrigued as our yoga teacher is highly adaptable to each individual skills and goals. It is the first time we hear such feedback as most of our guests praise our Yoga teacher. As you know the yoga programme includes 6 yoga lessons and 2 workshops (breathing and meditation). During the first lesson the teacher will assess each guest to personalize the classes according to the individual needs. Our yoga classes are adaptable to incorporate various styles like Ásana, Vinyasa or Ashtanga, with a strong focus on movement while on the workshops we learn about breathing and meditation techniques. Thanks again for your comments and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future.

We had for a work shop and it was a very good option for work and rest. I stayed for four nights and I was perfect. The bedrooms are so comfortable, the blue bar its nice, and the conference room are perfect to work.

Great hotel! Stayed for 1 week - wife and I with 18 month old and loved every minute. Only negative was having to leave! Every member of staff we met was smiling, helpful and knowledgeable. Facilities are excellent - 24 hour indoor pool, gym, bars/restaurant and outdoor pools - 3 and 2 separate paddling pools. We had a studio suite in the residence part which was perfect for a family. We met loads of parents with small children/young families at the resort. All in all a lovely atmosphere to the hotel. Suspect we will be back in the coming years.
Five star, deservedly so; a beautiful place to relax, especially earlier or a bit later in the year. We went in April and had a tranquil week and barely ventured out of the hotel. When we did there are steps down to a long beach where you can walk miles against the backdrop of the orange sandstone cliffs. The gardens are mature, with canopy loungers interspersed amongst glorious, fragrant herb beds. Rooms are amazing, modern and have various glass doors to change the room configuration. Lovely big beds. We had a couple of massages, competently done, and good value as there was a special offer that week. The service was generally excellent, we had one night where the service fell short at dinner, which was a surprise as there were not many residents in the hotel. But that just helped contrast the exceptional welcome and service we otherwise got all day every day. Food is plentiful, fresh with a dizzying array of choice. Highly recommended indeed; overall possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in.
It is difficult to know what to add to all the superlative comments about this place. I certainly have no negative comments. Instead here are a few tips. We booked the most basic resort view room. All rooms except the suites are the same size with the same high spec. We looked out over the front of the hotel but we still had a decent view and our balcony got the evening sunshine. Rooms are very well equipped. If you want to bring your own Nespresso pods to avoid the €1 fee the machines use the flat disc shape. The mini bar is quite roomy but bring your own corkscrew...this is the land of cork. Meals here are good, even the dinner buffet with decent choice. Do try the fine dining Al Quimia restaurant though.... Worthy of a Michelin star. Hire a car. There is so much to explore, driving is easy and the motorway is quick. Although this is a toll road it is not expensive. Pay the car rental company for the use of the payment gizmo on the windscreen. Also bring your own sat nav with you. Some road signs are lacking or confusing and the route to major roads a bit twiddly. We had seriously bad weather for our week and at least we got out and about. Epic Sana deserves it's five star rating, especially for style, comfort and service and I highly recommend it.

We simply loved it! We had booked directly and were there for 3 nights as part of a trip driving around the coast. We drove through Albufeira which was a bit of a tourist trap, so were delighted to arrive at the Epic Sana which is further down the coast and in a much quieter area. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we were so well looked after. A concierge parked our car, the receptionist was very informative and walked us to the lift giving us a tour en route and the room was amazing. The bedroom was very spacious with the en suite either being able to be closed off or opened up, giving a brilliant feeling of space - if you look at some photos you'll see what we mean. We also had a balcony which was great for sitting in the evening or morning. We ate in the fine dining Al Quimia one evening and it was a lovely experience - the service, food and ambience were terrific, although a bit pricier than the other restaurants. We also tried the Japanese food in the bar another night and thoroughly enjoyed it too! Highly recommend.

What a lovely place. A fantastic setting, beautiful landscaping and immediate access to the stunning beach. The staff - every last person - is amazing. So genuinely wonderful, kind, and real. This was our second April holiday there and we are already planning to go back again.

Back to the Epic Sana, for the fourth or fifth, can't remember. Hotel as fabulous as ever, staff even more so. If you want to feel like and be treat like a king, this is the place. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Back next year!

This hotel is fabulous so modern, clean and staff are so friendly and helpful I would recommend this hotel. From when I booked this hotel I got emails from margarida about different ideas for my wife's birthday to make it special and then when we arrived she had upgraded us from bb to half board was brilliant, margarida showed us round the whole hotel then brought us up to our room were there was a cake and champagne for my wife's birthday. The food in the hotel from breakfast to evening buffet was great and the restaurant was amazing we had a wonderful time away in this hotel and would love to go back. Thanks again to all of the staff and management really enjoyed our stay.
Unfortunately, we had a short stay at Epic Sana. But comments are as follows: Great breakfast buffet, one of the more extensive we've seen in Portugal. Very friendly staff. Beautiful grounds, including pool area, beach access, and walking trails. Wish we had more time to enjoy the facility, but just passing through. Seemed to be a very family friendly property.

There is little to add to the range of superlatives set out in the many TA reviews - all of them justified. A few personal observations - the hotel is a design icon in a truly beautiful setting; staff are genuinely friendly and go out of their way to be helpful; children are made very welcome; the rooms and apartments are large, clean and well equipped; the pools are very cold; the standards of cooking and restaurant service are very high; the buffet breakfast was excellent; I would have preferred the option each day of having the evening meal served at the table, in a separate restaurant and from a shorter menu; quality of the live music in the restaurant was very high; hotel taxi service was akin to booking an executive chauffeur.

I travel a lot in the US and Europe and spend 30 or more nights per year in 3 to 5 star hotels. I'm rarely impressed or bothered enough to comment, but Epic Sana exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. In Albufeira 2/14 without a room I scanned TripAdvisor and went here to see firsthand before booking. Reception was perfect! I don't recall the girl's name (dark hair and glasses), but my special room and other requests were quickly honored efficiently and not just pleasantly, but enjoyably. Another girl there, Marta, was also outstanding. Bell staff were always helpful and efficient. The property was very well kept and perfectly clean, even in corridors and garage. The grounds were immaculate. Housekeeping was ideal, quiet when cleaning nearby rooms and providing good service, complimentary water and other goodies daily. The property was well designed with many small details 99% of hotels lack. As one example only, there are small bumpers to soften the sliding doors from making loud noises when opening. All of the upgraded fixtures and modern features worked as designed. I don't like buffets generally, but their breakfast perfection with both high quality local and international fare while also being about the cleanest and best attended I can remember seeing anywhere. My only niggle here is when the restaurant is nearly empty why sit people right next to me (who then engage in loud and non-stop conversation? (Not a morning person. - :)) As the hosts always offer a choice of seating I honestly have to put this on the other guests and not the hostess. At checkout I was surprised to be asked for a tip. When I said I'd never heard of that before, I was told rather bluntly (which I think is just a Portuguese-English translation thing), "well, we do it here." I declined even though they deserved one because it was a little off-putting and if I had tipped $20E I imagined it would be shared in a tip pool with only $2E reaching my favs, Marta and the other. I ended up staying several nights and sought out another Epic Sana at my next stop in Lisbon. It was also very, very good. Room Tip: Just ask reception. I prefer quiet over views, and top floor is always a good idea.

We thought we were boutique hotel travelers, but that changed with our stay at Epic Sana. We were quickly checked in, and personally shown to a beautiful, spacious room. The hotel grounds are spectacular. They have groomed gardens, and a boardwalk surrounded by lovely natural areas with stairs leading down to the beach. We ate at Al Quimia for both our dinners and enjoyed each dish, each night. Service was impeccable. Also attended a dessert demo with the pastry chef. We had the very helpful assistant Food and Beverage Manager as our translator. Thoughtful and appreciated touch. We were presented with delicious Bombons by the pastry chef after dinner which we are still enjoying. Breakfast offered a large variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, breads, eggs to order, and more. In all, the staff, food, hotel and grounds were great. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you!

The Epic Sana, is the perfect place to relax and unwind. This was our third visit and we are looking forward to the next. This attractive, modern, low level hotel is so pleasing to the eye both inside and out. It is set in beautiful grounds, with its own steps accessing the spectacular cliffs and beach. You can feel the luxury at this hotel. The seating, beds, pillows and cushions are just so comfy. The bed linen is lovely. Everywhere is so clean, you want to reach out to touch it. The Epic Sana has a lovely aroma and ambiance on entering the building, which to us makes it unique. It is a very special hotel, with all the amenities you need for a wonderful holiday, whether you want relaxation or activity. Our taste buds are tantalized by the wonderful choice at breakfast, which is really worth the money. The a la carte menus at dinner are exciting and special. They are expensive, but the quality, service and presentation of food certainly justifies the cost. If you feel you would like something more reasonable there are plenty of cafés and restaurants, selling extremely reasonable food just opposite the entrance to the hotel. Lots of choice for everyone. I also love the chocolate on your pillow at night. The staff are lovely and treat you as an individual, it is obvious they all want to make your stay enjoyable and special.

Dinner did not start until 7 when we were there so not ideal if you have smallies that are early to bed. The restaurants were the only downside, food was hit and miss, fabulous sometimes and worse then a really badly home cooked meal other days! Breakfast was good but very little changes over a week so gets a bit tired.Kids pools are great, if a little cold. Lots of pool toys in the pool near the kids club so plenty of fun to be had there. Didn't use kids club, it looks very small and only every had a kid or two at a time. The beach can get really busy but is lovely first thing in the morning. We had a duplex suite, really nice with access to the garden from the lower level so nicety sit out while the kids played (may depend on who your neighbours are though as its all very close!).

Incredible place to relax. EPIC SANA is a great place for people who like to relax in an outstanding hotel where you can experience a unique stay, in an incredible environment of relaxation, where every detail is thought to give you the best experience when it comes to comfort, excellent attention and everything you can expect from a first quality hotel.

Excellent hotel and staff. Great location away from main centers but good restaurants within easy reach. Breakfast is comprehensive and top quality. Only disappointment at this time for year was that the fine dining facility had limited opening.

Perfect. The hotel is simply beautiful. The accommodations and amenities are very luxurious. The staff is always very polite. I stayed with a two year old child and they were always assuring that everything was fine. The breakfast had many options, a truly continental breakfast. The spa is lovely; I truly recommend it. I have nothing bad to say about my stay. I hope to return soon.

A beauty. My wife and I spent three days here with our two 20-something daughters before heading up to Lisbon. Service was excellent and the rooms very good. The beaches in Algarve are cliff beaches and often one had to travel a while from the resorts to get to the beach. Here you are a half kilometer from the beach, very convenient. The pool areas are great as well. The best part though is the fancy restaurant Al Quimia, one of the best meals we had in Portugal. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic once again. I visited for the second time this year during half term holidays and the accommodation and staff could not have been better. I stayed in a huge room in the duplex garden suites and I had fantastic breakfasts, and a day out in Albufeira old town for a 15 EUR taxi ride each way and a night out in Villamoura for a 21 EUR taxi rides each way. Book it. You wont be disappointed.

Stunning. As in all other reviews the rooms were spacious, clean and had everything one could wish for; two bathroom areas, massive bed, and a large sofa bed. Lots of lighting possibilities! Excellent kitchen area; dining space; and overlooking the pools, a large patio with loungers, table, chairs, and a drying rack. A beautiful sculpture in the room comprising tall, bleached branches of a tree. The grounds were natural art work and not overly embellished by the additions to the existing trees. Beautiful birds. A stunning water flow over small colored tiles to the left of the approach to the reception. The steps to the beach were also well designed and did not detract from the natural formations of the cliff face. The Atlantic was very strong and I lost my balance when only in up to my ankles. Please take care, especially of children.Yes, the pools were cold, but my daughter took the grandchildren in the heated indoor pool. The yoga and Pilates classes were available free of charge during our stay. We were there for the October half term holiday. Unfortunately, the Children's Club finished on Wednesday, but that afternoon was spent making pizzas in the hotel kitchen. My two grandsons were very impressed, and also with the many gifts and 'ghoulish' food it was offered on Halloween. Both breakfasts and dinners were outstanding, lots of choices and with an excellent quality. Staff was extremely helpful, pleasant, and polite. A big thank you to all of them (and also for my birthday surprise). We are definitely looking forward to another visit.

Great room, spacious, clean with lovely sea view. Excellent hospitality from all staff. Great selection of food and cool bar with cool music. The dcor is very Zen and cleanliness was to the 100 %. The location was light and open with various buildings for all different purposes.
Wonderful hotel. We had a five-night stay in one of the beautiful garden suites in mid-October. Although the weather was patchy, we had a fantastic stay. The suites are huge with two bathrooms and a bed you can get lost in. Outside on the terrace, we had two sun loungers and a dining table and six large comfortable chairs. The staff throughout our stay were wonderful and friendly and the service was five star plus. I did note some of the comments regarding conferences before we left and while we were there was one Russian wedding and a huge conference of over 400 people in the transport industry but the staff kept everyone separate and gave equal attention to all.In fact, due to the conference we ended up having the best two nights of our stay as the main restaurant was closed on one night and we were given the choice of the Al Quimia a la carte restaurant or a buffet in another part of the hotel, we chose the Al Quimia and had a fantastic night of beautifully prepared food at no extra cost. We enjoyed the night so much we booked for the following night as they had a five course meal and wine talk, the food and wines were stunning and the manager and staff made the night so special for us, that it was the best night of the holiday. Do give the Al Quimia a visit, especially if you are given the choice because of a conference booking. The staff there should win an award for their customer services.

Beautiful clean hotel. We stayed in a suite which was huge with two bathrooms, lounge area, queen size bed, bedroom, kitchenette, an outside patio/decking area with two sunbeds, and a huge table and chairs. The maids visit twice daily and kept it spotless. The food is excellent and there aren't many hotels I can say that about. The spa is a beautiful area which is kept spotlessly clean and the staff are really lovely. The beach is located down 161 steps which is about a ten-minute walk from the hotel, but youngsters could do it in five minutes. Narrow beach area but lovely soft sand, there are sun loungers to hire which we thought were too expensive 12 euros for half a day and 16 euros for a full day, but most people just lay on the sand with straw mats purchased at the local shop for 3.50 euros each. Most of all the staff was lovely, nothing was too much trouble and they were always willing to help make your stay there the best they could. We went on a few trips while we were there all of which were well worth the money. We would recommend this hotel.

Wow really amazing! My friend and I had a great time. (June 15-18) Beautiful hotel, very clean, nice staff, fantastic wellness / spa and yoga, good food, nice wine, and port. Amazing garden, near the beach, etc. Super, we loved it. We will come back. Thanks for the lovely time. The style of teaching is fun and light-hearted and yet precise and in-depth. She really looked after us all and gave us as much time and energy as we required.
