The Himalayan Institute is a leader in the field of yoga, mediation, spirituality, and holistic health. Nested in the Pocono Mountains on 400-arcs, no need to travel, park your car until you are ready to check out.

The accommodations are simple and relaxed. The minimalist design creates a sense of peace, allowing you to let go of the busyness of your daily life.

Included with accommodations are yoga classes, meals, use of the tea lounge, cafe, wifi, trails, public spaces - all amenities that the retreat center has to offer.

Please note that there are no TVs or phones in the rooms.


Meditation in Motion is a method of meditating with music and the sounds of nature using the breath with slow movements standing or in a sitting position. At this workshop, you will learn the "9 Phases of QI Mastery" a Qigong practice of nine steps that promote profound healing benefits. Also, you will practice the "Seven Precious Gestures" an Integral Qigong method developed by Qigong Masters.

Weather permitting, your final practices will be held outdoors by streams, woods and on the peaceful grounds of the Himalayan Institute Retreat Center, Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania.

In your free time, you can visit the Sri Vidya Shrine a sacred space dedicated to meditative practices newly constructed on July 16, 2019. The 400-acre campus offers groomed hiking trails; an ideal way to enjoy the beauty of the majestic and the natural charm of water, woods, and fields.

Shop at the store on campus for apparel, books, Ayurveda health and wellness care, yoga decor, and props. Visit the cafe featuring handcrafted artwork and healthy and delicious snacks, organic fair-trade teas, coffees, and chocolates.

During your stay, massage, Chiropractic, and Ayurvedic treatments are available by appointment (not included with workshop) at the PureRejuv Wellness Center.

The workshops will be led by your instructor, John Czechowski. John aims to inspire and guide you in your inner practice as you cultivate your inner medicine through these ancient practices that "anyone can learn."

Included excursions

Weather and time permitting, John will guide an optional hike to Tanner Falls, a picturesque waterfall just off the grounds of the Himalayan Institute Retreat Center (intermediate hiking ability). Tanner Falls is accessible by car for those who prefer to drive.

All meals are included in your package. Please note there is no meat (steak, burgers, etc.)

All meals are cooked fresh from the kitchen nutritionally balanced vegetarian meals. Special diet options dairy-free cereal at breakfast, gluten-free bread with each meal.

Breakfast consists mainly of hot cereals, homemade yogurt, fresh fruit. Make your own salads at lunch. Lunch the main meal of the day typically includes rice, legumes, vegetables, homemade yogurt, and salad. The supper is light with soup, salad, a side dish, and fresh fruit.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP). From the airport, you can continue your journey by taxi or Uber (approximately a one-hour drive by car).

Arrival by bus

Another option is a direct bus from New York City’s Port Authority in Manhattan to downtown Honesdale. The round trip fare from NYC is 62 USD (please confirm current rates when making reservations with Shortline Bus).
