Vastu

The principles of Vastu have been a guiding concept in the design of the bungalows at H2O Yoga and Meditation Center. 'Vastu' is India's ancient Vedic tradition of design, architecture, and sacred space, often called 'the yoga of design'. It is believed to create harmony and health in one's living space. The bungalows are built from local natural materials and have beautifully thatched roofing.

The poolside bungalows offer a peaceful retiring space. H20 Yoga and Meditation provides the retreat participants of the base price with accommodation in the spacious shared bungalow (six beds) with private bathroom. Equipped with fans, and both clean sheets and towels are provided.

There are also deluxe bungalow upgrade options with air conditioning, hot water, ensuite, security box, private verandah, and daily housekeeping.

This unique retreat experience allows you the time to do many things: pamper yourself, slow down, reconnect to nature, reconnect to your own true nature, start listening to your intuition, gain clarity on certain issues going on in your life, stop the self criticism, and start loving your self more and of course feel awesome and healthy!

What is this retreat about?

Is about what a retreat should be about; escaping the bubble you live in with all its pressures, stress, routine, miserable weather possibly, the people who don’t make you feel good about yourself, bad eating and sleeping habits, and coming away to a place such as the beautiful island Gili Air with no pollution and doing physical exercise in the form of yoga, calming the frantic busy mind with some meditation, eating high vibrational food, getting good sleep, building self confidence, recharging your batteries and if possible the hardest thing of all, going on a social media diet! (Turning off the smartphone altogether or at least minimizing a little to bring you into the present moment. And then returning back to your bubble as a new person!

  • 09:15 to 14:30 2.30 Island exploring on bicycle or foot, laying in a hammock, or massage
  • 14:30 Element discussion on earth, water, fire, or air
  • 15:30 Afternoon yoga, aqua yoga, Qi Gong, Sun salutation, or meditation class
  • 17:00 Sunset activity including mindfulness and appreciation of nature
  • 19:00 Vegan or vegetarian dinner
  • 20:30 Singing bowl meditation and exploring and discussing meditation techniques involving breath, mantra, zen, and affirmations
  • 21:00 Take rest

Friday is a day trip on the boat ‘Nemo’ with captain Fikri. Wednesday night is the movie and a curry night.

There is also one optional silent day on the retreat.

Instructors

Jon (Bindu) Meston
Meditation came before yoga for Jon. It started more than 20 years ago and led him on a journey of spiritual exploration to many parts of the globe including Tibet. The physical yoga becomes part of his life in 2004 whilst living in a community at Lake Atitlan, Guatemala and has been a daily practice ever since. He has studied yoga and meditation with many ‘learned ones’ including Zen master, Thich Nhat Hanh. He gained his master level Reiki training in 2005, studied kinesiology, and many healing modalities and in recent years deepened his understanding of qigong and working with life energy.
Claire Green
Claire began her yoga journey completing 500-hour with Gillian Russell, British Wheel of yoga teacher, trainer, and yoga therapist in England in 2005. Following a self-practice for two years, she continued her yoga studies with Birthlight pre-natal yoga in 2008 and later an advanced yoga training with Ana Forrest in 2009. She furthered her training by completing 500-hour with Maggie Reagh studying yoga therapy, yoga philosophy, chanting, and Ayurveda, co-run with Neil Pearson, a specialist in physical therapy and chronic pain in 2015.
Tamlyn
After completing a degree in sports psychology, Tamlyn discovered yoga in order to release stresses of life and to gain flexibility and strength. She was slowly changing her life and yoga became the priority of her existence. It was no surprise that she went on to completed a 200-hour teacher training at Johannesburg and then continued to deepen her studies with a further 300-hour training in Bali at Santosha Yoga in traditional yoga, Vinyasa yoga, and Yin yoga. Further advanced course with teachers such as Ana Forest has made a big impact on her professionalism that she delivers.

Location

We may sound biased but we believe we have the best location not only in Bali but in the world! Beautiful yellow sand, clear waters filled with marine life. Sunrise on one side, a 20-minute walk to sunset on the other side, no cars, motorbikes, or pollution just bikes and horse carts, it's like Disneyland. And the magnificent H20 Resort center, what more could you want.

It is only a short one hour walk around the outside of the island, and very safe at night time.

They organize transportation from your hotel in Bali and the fast boat, so you will arrive before lunchtime.

Food

The buffet breakfast included in the retreat has many wonderful offerings of muesli, soy milk, raisins, pumpkin seeds, coconut powder and sunflower seeds, brown bread, eggs, and herbal teas. The evening meal is Indonesian varieties with no fish oil or egg for the vegans. At H20 Yoga, they also have their “GOOD EARTH” cafe which has gluten-free, raw and vegan options for sensitive diets if relaxing by the pool for lunch.

Things to do (optional)

Some people like to do very little between the daily schedule and some people like to ‘tick’ all the boxes. There is plenty to satisfy the pallet so we recommend just arriving and then check in with how you are feeling and going from there.

  • Swimming
  • Snorkel alongside the critically endangered Hawksbill turtle
  • Encounter the vibrant sea life (the colorful Clown fish, sea anemones, striking coral reefs)
  • Take a day trip on a local 'glass-bottom' boat and go snorkeling at some of the island's most highly regarded spots
  • Go diving at approximately 18 dive sites around the island featuring coral seascapes, wrecks, sharks, and a plentitude of brilliantly colored fishes
  • Undertake a one day quick course on diving from one of the dive centers
  • Undertake a 3 - 4 day certification program and choose between Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water
  • Further your training with the advanced and instructor level courses on diving
  • Catch great waves at a reef break on the south west side of the island
  • Visit local pearl farms and waterfalls
  • Have a gentle stroll or power walk around the island
  • Take a drive along the forested road, with amazing coastal views and spot some local monkeys
  • Go island hopping and explore Gili Menos deserted beaches, discover Gili Trawangans high vibe and many restaurants, and salute the sunset as you watch its golden rays slip behind Balis sacred Agung volcano
  • Visit nearby Lombok and hike to the summit of the picturesque Mount Rinjani volcano, and reward yourself with spectacular views of the crater lake
  • Read a book from H2Os wide range of books on yoga, alternative healing, meditation, Buddhism, and other spiritual topics

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

You have two options: the Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) Bali or the Lombok International airport.

Bali is the more common option. For Bali travelers please book a hotel in the Kuta, Sanur, Seminyak or Ubud area and we can then pick you up for your included transfer in the shuttle bus and fast boat. 7 am pick up and arriving by lunchtime at Gili Air.

If coming via Lombok take a taxi to Bhangsal Harbor, then the 20 min boat to Gili Air, if doing this we will reimburse you 250,000 for your expenses.
