Having been born and brought up in the Caribbean and travelling extensively through many of the islands, Villa Serena in las Galeras offers up a destination I have never seen before, a charming old world feeling boutique hotel, in the uniquely lush gardens of beautiful greenery and wild volcanic facing the sunrise of the Atlantic.

In the very well-kept garden one lies under palm trees, with a view of the sea and the mountains. The water is pleasantly warm and very clean; the small island in front can be reached by swimming. The restaurant is very good, everything is freshly prepared and special wishes are not a problem. If you are looking for peace, you will find it here. A dream.

The setting is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are well-kept, we loved the pool and little beach. Beautiful room, comfy bed, and stunning view from the porch as we were sitting in out rocking chair or swinging in a hammock. Delicious breakfast every day. Everyone was so sweet and kind, from our driver Lambertoto the front desk manager Fernando and manager Marina. Would love to go back, this time for longer. Thank you everyone!!! Best wishes.

First of all thank you for a great and wonderful stay! The residence with it's 20 rooms offers a similar atmosphere and the perfect surrounding to get rid of all our daily stress and the negative properties of a common city life. Especially the splendid ocean view, the panoramic view to the garden, the incredible air quality as well as the calming quiet around us will certainly make us come back again to your place.

We have just returned from a wonderful vacation in Las Galeras, we spent 15 nights at Villa Serena and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for peace, relaxation, and wonderful surroundings. The colonial style hotel is located off the main street (almost half way between the beaches Playa Grande and Playta) so there is no traffic noise, everything is absolutely quiet and peaceful.

The rooms are very spacious, with colonial style furniture. I believe all the rooms are air conditioned (though ours was a bit loud) and they also have ceiling fans, which did a good job of cooling during the night. Bathroom was also very roomy, not very modern but acceptably clean. Their hotel offers complementary shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, face cleanser and body lotion, as well as paper tissues. Each room has a very big balcony or terrace with rocking chairs (and some of them even hammocks).

We experienced a great service. We send a car to Samana only to bring the credit card that I forgot to take with me after checking out. We made it to the ferry to Sabana de la mar on time. The cab driver was very helpful too, he waited until everything was ok. We decided not to take the ferry, instead we took a private boat through Parque los Haitises (including a complete tour) to our hotel in the park. We loved to stay at Villa Serena, it's a gem. We had the best meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) so far in the Dominican Republic.

This is a fantastic hotel about a five-minute walk from the center of Las Galeras. What really makes this hotel is the beautiful gardens and pool area and the private beach. The rooms are very spacious with a wonderful balcony and it is definitively worth getting a sea view room. The air conditioner is good as is the Wi-Fi connection. We had breakfast every day and it was very good with a good choice on the menu. Lots of chairs in the pool area and garden, and you can get a picked up by passing boats to playa Rincon. Would definitively come back here for a visit! Also the staff are very friendly and helpful!

We stayed in a room with a king size bed that had views of the water, beach, and the remarkable gardens of the property. We stayed in room 17 which had two patios - one with a hammock. It was spacious, well decorated, and very comfortable with a refrigerator. The staff is excellent and friendly and personalizes the room with fresh flowers on the bed every night. The restaurant was great, and I highly recommend their papaya milkshakes for a mid-afternoon snack. Marina is the manger and helped with us everything from travel plans from Santo Domingo to tips on activities. She earned a hug from my wife and I upon our departure. We'll definitely be back!

Stayed there for the night. Very quiet and calm place to stay alone or with family. The rooms are very comfortable. It will be better if it had a television in the room, but it's ok. Close to the beach, has a small pool where you can get in at anytime under your own risk. Overall, I totally recommend this location if you want to spend it in peace and quiet.

The hotel is beautiful. Very clean, the service is great. Our room was beautiful and we had two balconies overlooking the ocean and the very well attended garden! Only little drawback was the food was not the best. They could do better and it was also a bit difficult to get things in odd hours out of the kitchen (I suspect it is also because it was very quiet when we went). But again, when we could find people, the service was great! I would go back in a heartbeat despite the minor inconveniences, it felt like a five-star hotel otherwise!

A friend recommended Villa Serna and we booked directly via email with the hotel two rooms for three nights. The first impression of the hotel was wow. You never would expect such a treasure when you drive up the road. Check in was a bit unfriendly (that's the minus). The receptionist, Fernando, welcomed us, handed us two keys, and that's it. After checking the rooms, I had to ask if breakfast is included or not and about restaurant opening hours. All stuff you would like to know when you arrive. Sadly, he didn't mention a word upon check in. He rather seems to be annoyed when I ask him some questions and gave me that "I can't stand customers" look. There was a super sweet dog which belongs to the hotel or to one of the managers. Next to the reception is a small office where a lady is sitting in. You should never smile to her, because she can't handle friendly people. Very arrogant. Anyway, the hotel and the rooms are gorgeous. All rooms have a great ocean view. The hotel ground is extremely well maintained. The rooms are very clean. We had air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Huge balcony and a nice bathroom. The housekeeping did a great job. The rooms were decorated with flowers. You felt like in paradise. A fridge with water is available. There is a a safe and free Wi-Fi connection which is awesome. Bathroom is equipped with everything you need including a hair dryer. Sun loungers are available all over the hotel ground and pool. There is just a small access to the beach, but totally enough to swim or to use the free canoe or paddle boat.

The restaurant serves the whole day drinks where ever you want it. Beach, pool, or room. Breakfast was included and you should never miss that. The restaurant stuff is just great. Super friendly and nice especially Lidia! She served us every day with passion and the friendliest smile. Dinner was exceptionally good. Serving time was so much faster than other restaurants and the quality of food is great and the prices are absolutely ok. The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the mail street of Las Galeras where you can find loads of stores and restaurants.

Free parking at the hotel is available and safe. Main street left to the beach. Great walk along the beach and coast.

Overall, the hotel is definitely a paradise. The restaurant stuff and housekeeping are working hard and are super friendly. Loved it!

We rented the house down the road from Villa Serena that is booked through the hotel. House is private and perfect. Short walk to hotel for pool time and one night for dinner. Short walk to Playita Beach. Short walk to town for dinners. House is a bit run down but fine. What a view. Slept like a baby in the master bedroom. Loved this sleepy town with beautiful beaches.

Our large family gathered at Villa Natasha and enjoyed the amenities, service, and facilities of Villa Serena so much, we all want to return. Each morning we took turns leading multi-generational yoga in the Villa's very own yoga studio overlooking the bay, island, wind, and waves. The staff are all warm, professional, open, and relaxed, and the whole place is special. Thank you for facilitating a wonderful family vacation.
