About the retreat

Huamanwasi Ashram is a space where everyone can choose a retreat according to their needs, with or without the ingestion of plants. The goal of working with teachers and ancestral plants is to create a bridge between material three-dimensional and multidimensional reality that cannot be expressed otherwise. The higher self penetrates everything, but as it needs your efforts to find the access point.

Taking contact with those multidimensional planes inside yourself is the first goal of your exploration during the ceremonies with mother Ayahuasca and other master plants.

The second goal can be reached through yoga and meditation which can align your ego to these new pieces of information so that you can accept to experience everything in the non-linear, non-segmented space of your holographic world.

Diets and isolation in direct contact with nature give your ego time to absorb, digest, and then to embody those energies of expansion and direct knowledge, that you have forgotten because of your education has been forgotten.

Together, these practices allow you to create a sacred space of celebration and harmony with mother earth, and thus to recover and strengthen your relationship with the universal laws, while awaking the wisdom of your inner teacher. Purifying your mind, physical body, and emotions like this brings you closer to your right of birth which is the freedom of your consciousness, happiness, and a joyful life, connected to the source of universal love.

In quechua, Ayahuasca means "liana of death and spirits". This is a visionary master plant, known for millennia by the medicine men of Amazon and used to diagnose and cure diseases. It represents the feminine energy (which in yoga is your vital power base: the Kundalini).

This powerful and beautiful brew is composed of two ingredients, namely the liana ayahuasca (Banisteriopsis Caapi) and the chakruna leaves (Psychotria Ciridis). The benefits of this ancient medicine include:

  • Emotional healing, transformation of unresolved traumatic memories
  • Multidimensional exploration of your higher self, causing the expansion of consciousness beyond your ego and allowing perceptions beyond the limitations of your mind
  • Spiritual development and exploration of your unconscious mind

Mother Ayahuasca is not a psychedelic drug, since it does not produce dependency whatsoever. Instead, it opens a large therapeutic research space where you can clarify and deepen your conscious state. Recognized by the Peru Ministry of Health, these ancient medicinal techniques of detoxification, purification, and emotional release do not imply any dependency.

  • Romulo Pelliza

Yoga teacher, practitioner of Body-Mind Centering, and somatic educator, Romulo was introduced to shamanic rituals and the use of medicinal plants in Amazonian Peru and Brazil. During his many travels, he received the inspiration and teachings of different groups ayahuasqueros (healers). For eight years, he also participated in Santo Daime rituals, a spiritual movement that uses the Brazilian ayahuasca as a sacrament. Romulo combines his work in Peruvian vegetalist energetic medicine with the devotion of the Brazilian ayahuasca (Brazilian rituals) and the songs of India.

  • Emilio Escariz

Emilio practices yoga from a young age and initiated psychology, biodanza, and shamanic rituals through the knowledge received from the plants of the rainforest. For over 20 years, he has explored medical vegetalist teachings, sharing them between Peru, Argentina, and France. Teacher and trainer of Kundalini yoga, and shamanic emcee, Emilio combines in his teachings the traditional knowledge of India and the Amazon, while incorporating the reality of today in a global approach. He believes that freedom and the expansion of consciousness should be the goals of accomplishing spiritual work.

This retreat will take place in Peru and Bolivia, in the various sacred sites of Lake Titicaca, Isla del Sol and Isla de la Luna, Puno, Sillustani, and Raqchi and Cusco. "I took part in the retreat at Huamanwasi in February 2017 with master plants. I came on the advice of a friend. The experience was entirely new to me and was satisfactory beyond my expectations. First of all, the place is breath-taking: a few buildings surrounded by a lush and flowery garden which slowly transforms, via rocky followed by dirt paths, into a wide domain where the Amazon forest reclaims all its rights, all of which is lined with the Rio Cumbaza where one can bathe with complete peace of mind. Second, one feels good there: the accommodation is simple, comfortable, airy, and pleasant, and meals are good. The team which ensures the comfort of all the guests is impeccable. The program of the retreat is perfect: the work with plants is combined with kundalini yoga, a time of isolation in the forest, a talking circle, and a sweating hut at the end. The whole program is coherent and designed in such a way that in the end, each person feels they have come to terms with something. Especially, the support of Emilio and Romulo is without fault, which enables one to feel absolutely safe, which is infinitely precious as it enables one to go far within the depths of the unconscious. From that point of view, I feel I have lived in two weeks in Huamanhuasi the equivalent of 10 courses of Vipassana."

"The 12 day Yoga and Master Plants retreat I did at Huamanwasi in December 2015 was absolutely life changing, and I dont say that lightly!! Romulo and Emilio are both amazing souls and gifted shamans, who shepherded our group through a well thought-out, organized and integrated program of transformational experiences with grace, wisdom and heart. They offered each person thoroughly personalized attention to guide their individual journey, and the insights they provided to me were spot on- their intuition and skill with Master Plants helped me reach levels and make connections between things that I never would have been able to arrive at on my own. And the yoga sessions, combining yin yoga postures with Kundalini yoga mantras and shamanistic singing and dancing, were just fantastic, complementing the work with Master Plants perfectly. This unique program of yoga and music Romulo and Emilio devised, provided me much inspiration and new angles for my own spiritual practice. In addition, the location and the facilities of Huamanwasi itself are just wonderful, the jungle is like a garden around the main house and the variety of meeting places and ceremony spaces around the site are just beautiful. The rooms and communal areas are so lovely and peaceful; every detail, from the artwork in the bedrooms, to the paintings and colors of the walls and the beautiful hammocks hanging everywhere, is considered, and each of the ceremony spaces within the forest have a lovely infrastructure and individual feel. And the rest of the staff are just fantastic too- so friendly and warm, and they do such a wonderful job supporting us during our process- maintaining the environs and feeding us amazing vegetarian food!! I cant recommend Huamanwasi highly enough, and would love to return for another retreat! Suitable for Spanish, French and English speakers, although some knowledge of Spanish would be recommended, in order to communicate with all the staff there. 10 out of 10."

"Huamanwasi is the most wonderful place I have ever been. In the heart of the forest, feeling the sound of life, I just had to be. I mostly appreciated: everything! I went there alone and also once in a couple. Both experiences were perfect. The two hosts, Emilio & Romulo, dedicate their energy and wisdom to guide you to yourself, throughout yoga (kundalini, yin, …), meditations, and so many other practices that brought me back to the essential in my life. During these two weeks, the experience was stunning, rich and awakening. The ashram is marvelous: pretty, cozy, comfortable. The cooking is delicious and the people there: Leoncio, Nilo, Ada, Mariella etc... have only one goal : make each guest happy and at home. I warmly recommend Huamanwasi!! Should you wish to relax, go deep inside, or move forward. Should you be looking for a place to stay one month (or more) or for a 2 weeks' retreat, you will live the experience of your life!Don't think : go! Thank you so much to you all at Huamanwasi. I will for sure come back again. With love and gratitude."

"For a long time I wished to do a shamanic work, but the fear slowed down me. I then met Romulo and Emilio inFrance at the time of an internship of Yoga. Because of their competencies, their investment and they're serious, I finally decided to leave to Peru in their shamanic doctor center. What a stay! Of course for the yoga but also for the shamanic ceremonies. Each one among it making me discover capacities in me which I ignored. I was far from figuring out at which point with this plant Ayahuasca could be moving and healer. I also discovered the powerful of the songs and the music, sounds healers and supporting me for an in-depth work. Romulio and Emilio are musicians and singer of exception, their benevolence, their presence, their attention are of a rare quality. The Hamanwasi place is quiet and very well maintained and the food is also very good and healthy. A place to know absolutely for who is ready to do such a work. "
