Come and join ILIOHOOS-The School of Simple Living for this meditation and yoga retreat in Greece. Stop and relax, listen to the waves, soak up the sun, and feel the power and joy. You will enjoy the tranquility and nature there while benefiting from the knowledge of the experienced Qigong and yoga teachers, and recharge your batteries under the Greek sun by the sea.
During this retreat, you will stay at ILIOHOOS' resort in Kalamos. You will either stay in a room in the main building or in one of the spacious apartments, which are within a one to three-minute walk. All accommodations have a balcony or terrace, shower, TV, and fridge, mostly with sea view. Wi-Fi reception is available at the restaurant. The complex also includes a tavern and the seminar room.
The complex with tavern and exercise room is surrounded by beautiful olive, lemon, and orange trees. It is located on a fine gravel beach with clear calm water. Other beaches are in Kalamos and the surrounding idyllic bays. The breakfast and dinner buffets are served on the terrace directly on the beach or in the restaurant.
From the open essterrasse, there is a wonderful panoramic view over the sea. You can experience the most beautiful sunsets at dinner. From time to time, even dolphins swim by.
A room or apartment with sea view, and a larger room or apartment with additional room and sea view are available at an additional cost, as well as a larger apartment with living room, bedroom, kitchen, and sea view, which is located 50 meters to the beach and is suitable for families. For babies, there are no additional costs.
There are two practice rooms with wooden outdoor flooring surrounded by olive groves. Nearby, there is a small river and a spring with drinkable water. You will practice in the natural shade of plane trees and olive trees. It is very quiet there, you only hear the sound of the sea and the chirping of the birds. The complex also has a closed round practice room with about 65 square meters on the first floor, many windows, sea view, air conditioning, and wooden floor.
The program and daily routine offered in this retreat are different than the usual retreats. The classes and teachings are more intense, there is little talk and more practice. The two weeks are divided into two parts: introduction and retreat. In the first week, an introduction to Kriya yoga and the supportive practice will be given. In the second week, the time mainly is devoted to practice, and there will be less talk.
For babies there are no additional costs. Children of five to 16 years old are also welcomed to participate in the program and hikes at no extra cost, they will only be required to pay an additional cost for the accommodation.
Basu is an experienced yoga teacher. For years, he has given yoga, Qi gong, and meditation seminars in India, Thailand, and Greece. In 1997, he met his first yoga teacher on a beach in Greece. This was the beginning of his inner journey. Since then, he has spent many years learning and practicing in India and Thailand, developing the ability to lead others to an individual practice. He was directly taught Kriya yoga, Hatha yoga, Kundalini yoga, Tantric yoga, Vipassana and Qi Gong. He also studied some of the main philosophies of India.
The Seminarhaus Iliohoos is located directly on the beach on the edge of the small idyllic fishing village of Kalamos. Kalamos lies at the foot of a green hill with olive, lemon, and orange trees. It is surrounded by many tranquil bays with clean white pebbles and sand, picturesque rocks, and the turquoise clear waters of the Aegean Sea.
The Pelion Peninsula, country of the legendary centaurs and argonauts, is a green oasis over picturesque creeks and the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea. Pelion is a green peninsula with lush vegetation, small, idyllic villages, and sandy coves. In antiquity, Pelion was famous for its many healing herbs (approximately 2000 types).
It is a unique combination of green mountains and the magnificent beaches of the Aegean Sea. At the steep slopes lies the famous 15th and 16th-century villages of Pelion with the typical, made of stones houses and the slate roofs.
At the feet of the green forests, lie beautiful sand beaches which as yet are only scarcely visited. Away from mass tourism, one experiences there tranquility and genuineness.

Daily buffet breakfast and Greek dinner are served on the beachfront terrace or in the restaurant. The food comes mainly from local cultivation. There is homemade olive oil, honey, jams, vegetables, and fruits. The price includes nine dinners. On the hiking days and on the day off, the food can be taken for a fee in the popular hotel restaurant or in one of the taverns and buffet breakfast.
During your free time, you can opt for a language course for 5nEUR per lesson, Greek circle dances for 5 EUR per evening, or an individual massage session, e.g. shiatsu or Thai massage. There will also be four full-day excursions, with two daily hikes are held per week. The price per hike is from 25 EUR including the transport.
Please book your flight to arrive at Thessaloniki International Airport "Macedonia" (SKG) or Nea Anchialos National Airport (VOL). Transfer from and to the airport is included. ILIOHOOS-The School of Simple Living will pick you up from the airport. The guests are expected to arrive before 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival.
Group transfers from Volos, Thessaloniki, or Athens airport can be arranged as of three passengers, and ILIOHOOS-The School of Simple Living can organize group and individual transfers. Excel Airways fly each Friday from Gatwick to Volos airport. The journey from Volos airport to Horto beach by taxi takes approximately one and a half hours.
British Airways fly each Thursday from Gatwick to Thessaloniki. The journey from Thessaloniki to Kalamos beach by taxi or minibus takes approximately three and a half hours, including a 20-minute stop.
Guests traveling via Athens are also transferred by taxi. The journey takes approximately four and a half hours, including a 20-minute stop. Guests traveling via Skiathos take the hydrofoil boat to Volos and are collected there by taxi at no additional cost.
