James Jewell offers this delightful and magical retreat to those who yearn for being away and resting from their normal routine, practicing yoga, stillness and meditation and being outdoors in nature. This retreat will give you a fresh perspective and awareness on yourself and your life. You may prefer to take the week more as a retreat, with more silence and reflection during the free time. The magical Grotto pool is equipped with an automatic sea water system and contains no chlorine.
For an extra cost, you have the option of relaxing in their pool-side 14- seaters sauna.
The studio is 100 square meters with wooden parquet flooring and occupies and extraordinary position, hand-cut out of the mountain, floor to ceiling windows with views across the valley and a door leading into the inner stillness of the caves. The latter serves as natural air conditioning in hot summer months. Under floor central heating available for winter months. The studio has incredible acoustics for working with sound, and is fully equipped with yoga props and training materials.
Besides their lovely yoga studio, there is also an approximately 60 square meters teak decking area, for enjoying yoga outdoors. During summer months, the wooden gazebo serves as a second Thai and Chavutti massage room.
They are extremely fortunate in having their own caves, particularly appreciated by meditation groups, and for chanting, overtone, Didgeridoo etc. In fact the whole mountain is honeycombed with caves.
Molino del Rey is nestled in a little hamlet called Jorox with extensive views down the valley towards the Sierra de las Nieves, a national mountain park. It has everything you would expect from a top yoga retreat and much more. The yoga retreat facilities are second to none in Spain. In fact the top yoga experts regularly rate Molino del Rey as one of the best yoga retreats in the world. Molino del Rey, the retreat center is set in beautiful Andalucian Nature Reserve, is just 60 minutes from Malaga Airport on the Costa del Sol in Southern Spain.
Food is of great importance on a retreat. All food during your stay here are included in the price. They have their local cooks, Simone and Gloria, preparing creative brunches and sumptuous dinners. A lot of the vegetables are grown in the vegetable garden. The meals are served buffet style so everyone can choose what they like from the varied dishes on offer each meal time.
Molino Del Rey is well situated for day trips by car to Granada with its famous Alhambra, Sevilla one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, Nerja with its famous caves, Cordoba, Gibraltar, Marbella, and of course the delightful city of Ronda. Beautiful walks, hiking, horse riding, closely situated in one of Andalucias most impressive natural reserves. This huge natural park Sierra de las Nieves has been designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, and contains the Abies Pinsapo Boissir, the oldest known species of fir tree found in Europe, just five kilometers from the center.
A spring of the river Rio Grande is born at the entrance of the hamlet. From it the purest of waters pour through the center, offering wonderful bathing facilities whilst surrounded by the wonderful fragrance of mountain flowers. A lovely waterfall is just 5 minutes hike from there. Depending on yearly rain fall, the waterfall can be enjoyed most of the year.
Being an old water mill, Molino has beautiful Moorish water streams flowing down through the center, creating a refreshing, magical charm to the place. They have refreshing, salt treated, mountain water pool, sculpted under the caves with a hidden shower under the banana trees for you to relax during your free time.
Molino del Rey is in a perfect location too for visiting neighboring Andalucian white villages, or famous towns like Ronda. Hence a hired car could be a good idea for exploring either during the course or for staying on a bit longer afterwards. Prices can start at less than 100 EUR for a week.

Leave airport and follow signs to Malaga on E15/A7.
At the next main junction, follow blue overhead signs to Motril, Antequera,Sevilla,Granada.
At exit number 236, follow blue signs to A357 Cartama,Parque Technolgico and mauve sign to Universidad.
Once on the A357, follow this road for 30 kilometers. You will note small green signs, counting every kilometer on all spanish roads.
Just after KM40, turn left on to the A354 direction Zalea,Casarabonela,Alozaina,Yunquera. Follows signs to Alozaina.
After 19 kilometers (at KM 0) Alozaina, turn right at gas station on to the A366 direction El Burgo, Yunquera, Ronda.
After 4 kilometers you have reached the hamlet of JOROX . Total journey is 55 kilometers.
Best first park in the parking areas provided on entering the hamlet, and walk approximately 250 meters to the center.
Turn left at the little chapel and follow the wooden fencing. Keep straight down the hill for about 200 meters. The house is the round building with blue window surrounds and the only house with solar panels on the roof.
The nearest airport is Malaga Airport. You can hire a taxi or a car and the journey will last for around 1 hour.
