Come into the essence of who you truly are by holding space for yourself on and off the mat. You will not regret taking part in this wonderful retreat.
Stowel Lake Farm includes options for camping, shared accommodation for two, three, or four persons, and private accommodation. This place is comfortable and accessible. The camping areas are open, flat, and grassy. Campers have access to indoor bathrooms complete with shower, toilets, and sinks. Indoor common areas are also available to campers for relaxing or socializing.
If you decide to choose the camping version of accommodation, please note that you need to bring your camping gear.
This experience is open to all, and some experience with yoga may be helpful. Your journey begins on Friday, August 25, with your arrival at Stowel Lake Farm any time after 3 p.m. You will gather for a welcome circle and Yin yoga practice followed by a dinner.
On Saturday and Sunday, you will begin your day with meditation and a slow flow yoga practice at 7:30 a.m. followed by a breakfast. You will spend the days in discussions, movements, meditations, journaling, and connecting to nature. Evenings will include a Yin yoga practice, dinner, and evening activities including a film screening and fire ceremony.
On Monday, August 28, you will begin your day with meditation and a slow flow yoga practice followed by a breakfast, discussion, and then a Yin yoga practice to help you reintegrate. You will share lunch together and then gather for a closing circle ceremony. Departure will occur around 3 p.m.
During this retreat, you will take part in a guided hike to enjoy beautiful surroundings of Stowel Lake Farm.
Heather Evans, MS, RYT-200 is the Founder of Journeys on the Mat. She is a passionate yoga teacher, life coach, and energetic healer who is inspired by everyday moments of bravery. While she has trained in Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Yin and Restorative yoga, her movement is uniquely responsive to the needs of those she works with. Her goal is to provide space for her students to experience themselves in a much deeper and transformative way. “Her love of the practice inspires..The flow of her classes hits all body parts and leaves you feeling mentally refreshed and centred.”

This retreat includes three locally-sourced, organic, vegetarian meals per day. On the first day, you will have dinner and on the last day, you will have both breakfast and lunch. If you have any special dietary requests that you did not include on your registration form, please let Journeys on the Mat with Heather Evans know as soon as possible.
You can book at an additional cost a gentle energy healing session based on craniosacral and Reiki principles with Heather. When your energetic system is in balance, you find yourselves empowered from a loving, compassionate, and nurturing place. You have the ability to speak with clarity, tune into your emotional state, and step into your life’s purpose with authenticity and joy. These sessions last a minimum of 45 minutes and the cost is 150 CAD per session.
Please book your flight to arrive at Victoria International Airport (YYJ) then rent a car or grab a taxi to the ferries.
If you are coming from Victoria International Airport (YYJ) with or without a vehicle, the recommended terminal to arrive at on the island is the Fulford Harbour Ferry Terminal. You will make arrangements to take the Swartz Bay-Fulford Harbour, British Columbia Ferry from Swartz Bay. Stowel Lake Farm is a five-minute drive from the Fulford Harbour Ferry terminal location.
