Bab Zouina is a traditional riad, a gorgeous Moroccan villa, located on a beautiful piece of land planted with fruit trees, palm trees, and a vegetable garden. The house is spacious and has many nooks and corners for the different times of the day. Bab Zouina has various terraces and peaceful places that allow visitors to relax.

The amazing Swedish artist and landscaper, Catharina von Unge, conceived and designed the sumptuous ornamental garden surrounding the property of Bab Zouina. She managed to combine a British aesthetic taste with the rusticity and simplicity of the place. By using the plant and mineral forms, she managed to enhance the alternation of light and shadow depending on the time of the day. Earthen and ocher stone trails, framed with thyme and lavender hedges, meander among lantana bushes, rose trees, agave families, and exotic flowers.

Imposing stones from underneath the earth was laid in the manner of Breton menhirs throughout the garden in order to stress the curves of the iron arches adorned with jasmine or bougainvillea. The benches, deckchairs, umbrellas, and Moroccan zellij tile tables offer an authentic and local character to the terraces and places of relaxation.

Finally, with the Mexican corner and its incredible varieties of cactus, Catharina dared to hint at the Majorelle garden by Yves Saint Laurent and the neighboring garden by André Heller. During the spring, flowers of all colors blossom everywhere. The summer gives the fields a beautiful golden color. Autumn is punctuated by olive picking and pressing the precious oil. Finally, winter allows the earth to regenerate and to regain its vitality and the Atlas looms over the valley often covered in snow.

Struck by the calmness of the surrounding countryside, your ears start listening to the continuous chirping of the birds, the braying of the donkeys, the crowing of the cock and the call of the cuckoo, the croaking of the toads and the frogs, the laughter of children playing in the distance, the call to prayer by the muezzin from the neighboring mosque, the refrain of sounds from the farmers in their fields.

Nella Yoga's all-inclusive training courses take place four times a year and can also be used in blocks. This trip is also the right choice for you if you are looking for some kind of trial run for a future yoga teacher training course or if you are just interested in an in-depth yoga week with great people in a magical place.

Use your unique chance to practice yoga more intensively for you personally in Morocco. Nella Yoga looks forward to accompanying you on your journey to yourself! 10% benefit children in India! Yogi Simon Gill will personally give this share to the children; for years, it has been supporting 142 children in schools with food, clothing, and school supplies.

Sample daily schedule

Day 1: Sunday

  • Arrival

Days 2 to 6: Monday to Friday

  • 06:30 Tea and fruit
  • 07:00 Pranayama

Pranayama is commonly referred to as breath control ("PRANA" means breath or life energy and "YAMA" means control). In a different light, it also refers to the expansion of your life energy ("PRANA +" AYAMA ", where" AYAMA "means expansion). In this course, you will learn different breathing techniques to influence the flow of prana through the body's energy channels. You will also learn how to use pranayama techniques that generate heat (like Surya Bhedi) and cold (like Sheetkari) as therapy for various psychosomatic illnesses.

  • 07:45 Alternating between Shatkarmas and meditation

During the week, you will also get an introduction to Shatkarmas and their underlying theory. Shatkarma ("SHAT" = six, "KARMA" = action) is an ancient purification of the body's yoga practices. There are six types of Shatkarmas each, which balance the masculine (ida) and feminine (pingla) energies and rid the body of stagnant waste that has accumulated over decades of unhealthy living. In the yoga teacher training, you will get an introduction to three of these ancient practices.

Relax and withdraw into your consciousness. You will learn meditation techniques and their underlying theory. You will receive an introduction to chakra meditations, prana meditations, creative meditations, and other techniques that have been used in practice for thousands of years. You also have the opportunity to lead your own meditations.

  • 08:45 a.m. Vinyasa Yoga

"VINYASA" can be understood by breaking down its roots: "VIN" to flow and "YASA", on a good path. In this light, proper Vinyasa yoga practice requires a "connected breath". The four elements of mental/visual focus (dristi), energy barriers (bandha), ujjai pranayama, and asanas must be connected in a flow so that your practice goes beyond a typical training. You are practicing Vinyasa flows and building a class. You have several options for teaching entire Vinyasa classes, along with constructive feedback from your teacher and classmates.

  • 10:15 Breakfast
  • 11:00 Mantra chanting and meditation

Make time every day for mantras and mantra classes by learning the 10 most important mantras in yoga. Singing the literal translations and their spiritual meanings and how you can apply them in your daily life and in your yoga practice. The word "mantra" means Sanskrit roots "MAN" = spirit and "TRA" = liberation.

Mantras are powerful sounds and words that are chanted repeatedly to awaken powerful energies and enter a state of meditation. Vibrations of sound that penetrate every cell of your being and allow your mind to dissolve and rest. Mantras are repetitive sounds that are used to penetrate the depths of the unconscious and adjust the vibration of all aspects of your being. Mantras are vibrated by singing loudly, mentally practicing, or by listening. The experience of how sound vibrations affect your being is "Naad Yoga".

  • 12:00 Philosophy

Discover the origins of yoga by studying the core philosophy and scriptures that have endured through thousands of years of practice. You will get to know the Bhagavad Geeta and the lessons of Karma yoga, Bhakti yoga, and Gyana yoga. You will learn about the Yoga Sutra and how you can overcome the different ways of thinking through the "Eight Limbs of Yoga". You'll get to know the physical, astral, and causal body.

  • 13:30 Lunch
  • 16:00 Anatomy and Physiology
  • Delve deep into anatomy and physiology to really understand how yoga affects the bodies. You will examine five of the most important physiological systems in the human body: respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, muscles, and skeleton. You will also learn how to use yoga asanas, pranayama, shat karmas, and meditation to treat problems that arise in each individual physiological system.
  • 17:00 Adjustments and use of props

You have an hour and a half each day to practice and master the art of adaptation. Every body and soul are different and you will learn to learn different variations to meet the needs of the different students you encounter during the class. You will also practice using different props: blocks, blankets, rope, pillows, etc.

  • 18:30 Alternating between Yin yoga and Restorative

Yoga is about a balance of energies. Much of modern yoga focuses more on intense physical practice and it is equally important to induce relaxation and calm. In the Yin yoga course, practice and learn Restorative yoga techniques as a form of mental and physical therapy. Yin yoga focuses on deeper stretches that target underlying connective tissue and helps reduce stress.

Included excursions

You will be picked up from the villa at 9 a.m. to start the half-day excursion with a professional city tour. Together, you will discover the authentic medina of Marrakech. The old town of the 11th century! Visit Saadien Tumbs, Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Medrassa, and La Koutoubia, the most popular monuments that Marrakech has in the heart of the old town "Medina".

The city guide will explain the history of the city and culture well, including the warm hospitality from the people of Marrakech. On the way back to the yoga villa, the driver will take you to the Anima Garden, the opulent two-artist of the universal artist André Heller. The hectare botanical staging is a magical place of sensuality, wonder, contemplation, joy, healing, and inspiration.

High Atlas Mountain

This day trip takes you at 9 a.m. from the yoga villa towards the south, the beauty, and splendor of the Ourika Valley. The drive to Setti Fatma is usually around an hour, but there is so much to see along the way that you will stop at regular intervals to take in the sights and sounds of this beautiful Ourika Valley.

As you head to the Ourika Valley waterfalls for the first part of the trip from Marrakech, you may want to watch the lush green slopes, Berber villages, and rolling hills. Here, rivers meander through the valley and there are countless opportunities to take dramatic landscape shots with the camera. Stop in some of these typical Berber villages so you can immerse yourself in the everyday life of these local peoples.

As you continue the drive through the valley, approach the more mountainous passes of the Atlas Mountains by going to Setti Fatma. There are several small (and some much larger) waterfalls along the route and not all of them are full of tourists. Nella Yoga recommends bringing hiking shoes as you are walking a short path through some of the Setti Fatma Cascades (waterfalls).

On the day trip, there are many cafes and restaurants in some Berber villages where you can enjoy local tagines and various traditional dishes. The hike to the Setti Fatma waterfalls leads through the valley. Then, return to the villa on the same route. The arrival at the villa is around 4 p.m.

Quad tour

The quad tour in Marrakech starts at 9 in the morning. After a short 30-minute drive by car to the Palmeraie, arrive at the quad base. There, meet the quad guides who'll help you choose a helmet, protective goggles, and a hood. After short safety instruction, you will be familiarized with your fully automatic ATV. Your quad bike excursion will take you deeper into the Palmeraie, an oasis with thousands of palm trees.

After crossing the Tensift River and rough rocky terrain, reach a Berber village. There, enjoy a cup of mint tea and homemade crepes with the locals. Then, set the trip back to the base and enjoy the landscape that accompanies you on the way. This quad tour in Marrakech is a completely safe experience. It is supervised by experienced quad bike guides who move the group forward. When it comes to quads, they are constantly checked and the operating company is properly insured.

Cooking workshop

Get to know the simple and healthy cuisine of Morocco. The dish will be announced in Morocco.

The yoga villa Bab Zouina is located in the Ourika Valley. The Ourika Valley is a little paradise on earth and is located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, three hours by camel from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. This enchanting place, surrounded by olive trees, still lives to the rhythm of nature. The purity of the air, the invigorating smells, and the ocher-colored floor, interspersed with various shades of green, offer a wonderful opportunity to invigorate the senses and facilitate contemplation.
