The way our body and brain react to meditation is greatly affected by the state of mind we find ourselves in during that particular moment. Believe it or not, a great deal of our mental alertness depends on the food that we consume. According to the Ayurvedic system, there is a connection between how we eat and how we think or react to certain situations.

Type 2 diabetes has reached epidemic level now that about 300 million people worldwide have developed it. This is partially due to food insecurity around the world. That said, coffee drinkers have a significantly reduced risk of developing this metabolic syndrome— of which about 23-50 % of cases depend on family history and lifestyle, according to several studies. One massive meta-analysis looked at 457,922 individuals to find that a daily cup of coffee granted a 7% reduction in diabetes risk.

One reason why people love coffee is because of the thermogenic effect and caffeine double team. Caffeine can boost your metabolismby 3-11 %, depending on your lifestyle and activity levels. Indeed, when you drink coffee, you can think of it as a natural fat-burning supplement.

The liver has an incredibly important function inside the body—detoxification being one of them. When the liver cannot do what it’s supposed do, the body suffers dramatically. There have been a number of studies on the role of coffee and the prevention of cirrhosis throughout the years, with major findings happening in 2001 and 2002.

Basically, if you drink around 4 cups of coffee a day, you reduce your risk of cirrhosis by a whopping 80%.

The skin cancer known as melanoma is one of the most deadliest types. Fortunately, the National Cancer Institute published a study in 2015 that highlighted the effects of 4 or more cups of coffee a day and the decreased risk of developing skin cancer. The belief is that the chlorogenic acid in coffee may suppress an enzyme called COX-2, which is a result of overexposure to UV rays.

Another study showed that of the 489,706 participants, those who drink 4-5 cups of coffee per day had a 15% lower risk of colorectal cancer.

Though you may think that avoiding coffee means maintaining your pearly whites, consider this: When teeth begin to disintegrate, you are at risk of developing periodontal disease. Researchers from Boston University found that   regular consumption of 1-2 cups of coffee a day resulted in less chances of bone loss. Coffee actually counteracts the development of this disease.
