The liver has an incredibly important function inside the body—detoxification being one of them. When the liver cannot do what it’s supposed do, the body suffers dramatically. Some examples of liver problems include hepatitis, fatty liver, and cirrhosis. Coffee happens to help with the latter. There have been a number of studies on the role of coffee and the prevention of cirrhosis throughout the years, with major findings happening in 2001 and 2002.
Basically, if you drink around 4 cups of coffee a day, you reduce your risk of cirrhosis by a whopping 80%.
The skin cancer known as melanoma is one of the most deadliest types. Fortunately, the National Cancer Institute published a study in 2015 that highlighted the effects of 4 or more cups of coffee a day and the decreased risk of developing skin cancer. The belief is that the chlorogenic acid in coffee may suppress an enzyme called COX-2, which is a result of overexposure to UV rays.
Another study showed that of the 489,706 participants, those who drink 4-5 cups of coffee per day had a 15% lower risk of colorectal cancer.
