Crystals and gems have been around since before we, humans, ever set foot on this planet. They’ve been forged in the Earth’s underbelly, under immense pressure, or in various mysterious and fascinating contexts, such asteroid impacts.
I have always been fascinated by crystals and gems, and since I’ve recently started meditating, I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate some of them into the meditation process. Here are some of my favorite crystals and gems that will help you, too, on your meditation journey.
5. Fire Agate

Fire agate is a gorgeous gem that can be quite pricey, depending on its quality and appearance. I am head over heels in love with it and I think it’s one of the most beautiful gems in the world.
Use it when you’re meditating if you need yourself to get grounded. If you need to calm down and invite positive vibes into your life. It has a soothing energy and it’s quite powerful against negative energies. I recommend getting a higher-grade fire agate, even if this means forking out a little bit more money. It is going to truly be worth it!

Amethyst is one of the world’s most beloved and most used crystals. I’ve fallen in love with it when I was in high school and now it seems that it always finds its way to me. Did you know that the Romans believed that if you drank out of an amethyst cup you would not get drunk? I guess they learned that wasn’t true the hard way!
Amethyst is a powerful gem that is highly protective. So, whenever you feel exposed or vulnerable when you’re meditating, make sure to keep an amethyst on you. It helps soothe your mind and bring your focus back to things that matter to you.

Moldavite was born when an asteroid impacted earth millions of years ago. It can only be found in southern Germany and it’s actually not a crystal, but a tektite.
Moldavite is a gem that will help you reach higher levels of awareness. While it is not of extraterrestrial origins, as many believed when it was first discovered, it was formed with the help of an extraterrestrial object, which means that it does help elevate one to higher grounds.
Use moldavite in your meditation process if you need help getting over things, or simply want to get above it all.

Opal is a delicate and dazzling gem. Did you know that black opal is one of the most expensive gems in the world, and it mostly comes from Australia?
No, opal won’t help you become invisible, as it was believed in the olden days. In the case of light-colored opal, this stone stimulates creativity, puts you in contact to your inner self, and also helps you sort out your thoughts and feelings. It gives clarity and stimulates passion in your heart.
Use it if you want to be inspired, and motivated. Trust me, it works!

Pink quartz is all about L-O-V-E, love! It helps draw in love from the universe and connects you to the universal love. It also helps you cultivate the love for your own person and for others.
Pink quartz is one of those crystals that simply look stunning, so it looks great if you display it around your house. Use it in your meditation process whenever you’re in need of a little bit of TLC and let its power heal your heart.
Care Tips for Your Crystals and Gems
With this in mind, you should know that there are a few things you should do to help your crystals and gems keep their properties and powers. Here are a few care tips.
Store Them Properly
Crystals, gems, and healing stones need to be treated with the utmost respect. Not because you’ll hurt their feelings, they’re stones. But because it’s the nice thing to do with something that can help you out so much.
If you have a lot of place in your home, you could display them in various key points. Above the mantelpiece, on the windowsill, on the bookshelf, or even in the bathroom. Again, it’s all about the space you have and its availability.
If space is an issue for you, then you should store them in wooden boxes, chest of drawers, or natural fabric pouches. Make sure they’re not too crowded and keep similar stones in one place (tumbled gems with tumbled gems, crystals with crystals).
Crystals and gems used for meditation need to be cleansed from time to time. How often you need to do it depends on you, but if you use them a few times a week, you should try cleansing them every other month, or even once a month. There are lots of ways in which you can cleanse your crystals, I’ll just share a few of my favorites:
- My preferred way of cleansing crystals and gems is during a full moon. A full moon cleanse is safe, you can’t mess it up and you can do it every month. Simply leave your gems out on the windowsill, if the weather is nice or inside the house in a place where the light of the moon can reach them and leave them like that overnight.
- Another great way to cleanse your crystals and gems is through visualization. Simply hold your crystal in your hands (use both hands), close your eyes and visualize a white light around and entering the crystal. Do this for a few seconds, even minutes and when you’re happy with the vibes you’re getting off the crystal, stop.
- A lot of people use salt or salt water to cleanse their gems, but I’ve never been a fan of this. Some stones are very delicate, and salt does run the risk of ruining their surface.
I highly recommend introducing crystals and gems in your meditation process. You can actually feel the positive difference they make. Happy crystal meditating!
