Karma yoga means:

  • Connect to the higher self and the divine through loving service and discipline of action
  • Volunteering a few hours per day to work on skills exchange or duties around the retreat area
  • Experience a practical, down-to-earth method for spiritual growth: digging your hands in the ground, eating wonderful organic raw/vegan food and sharing your service with the Ashram students in a mood of love and kindness

One of the fundamental principles behind the practice of karma yoga is that in life what you do doesn’t matter as much as your attitude while doing it. So when you serve with joy and an open heart, you will become aware of the beauty of reciprocity: the wonderful energy flow of giving and receiving. This is a very valuable life lesson that will hopefully remain with you even after your stay at One Breath of Yoga Ashram.

Daily schedule

Mornings are dedicated to asana practice and some pranayama. After or before breakfast, guests have to give a minimum of 2 hours of karma yoga. After duties are complete, guests have free time for the beach or to visit the village.

The afternoons will be for meditation or special events. Some nights will be dedicated to special activities or ceremonies.

Important note

The ashram is located in the jungle and One Breath of Yoga Ashram asks you to be respectful of nature and all other beings. They ask their guests to practice Ahimsa (non-violence) and also to be respectful of the process of other guests. Silence or low voice conversations are very welcome and appreciated.
