Accommodation

Paradise Found Yoga provides a cozy but well appointed and maintained interior, south-facing the lake. One of only a dozen or so homes on the lake, the grounds and garden are well manicured and private. And, you are only steps away to the outdoor hot tub and private dock. Mixing antiques with colorful country charm and the serenely exotic, the energy of Paradise Found is a perfect blend of practical western living with healing eastern influences.

Program

Upon your arrival at Paradise Found Yoga, your bags will be taken to your room while you have tea and orientation. You are welcome to make a short long distance call to your loved ones to let them know that you have arrived safely. Once you are in retreat mode, you will be asked yo refrain from phone use, save for any emergency. If this is something you are not comfortable with, please let Paradise Found Yoga know and they will work with you so that your needs are addressed. After tea, you’ll have time to settle into your room and change for yoga.

Participation

Please advise Paradise Found Yoga of any changes in your health or injury status. You are responsible for your own well being. Paradise Found Yoga fully encourages you to participate in as much of what they offer as you are able. Many times, guests feel the need to just rest and Paradise Found Yoga will always support you in your needs to do what feels right to you. You will have an opportunity to book extra spa treatments should you wish and will have an opportunity for free times.

Sample daily itinerary

  • Early morning sadhana (Yoga and meditation)
  • Afternoon or early evening Kundalini yoga classes
  • SSI excursion (SSI Saturday Market, hike, artist studio tour, etc.)
  • Spa session (Acupuncture, Jit Shin Do, oil massage, or reflexology)
  • Meditations
  • Informative talks and creative play supplies
  • Lots of free time to read, relax, swim, or row in the lake or enjoy in the hot tub
  • Walk the labyrinth

To officially end the retreat, you will be have a closing circle after or before lunch, depending on the needs of all guests. You are welcome to stay for the full duration even if others must leave early.

Included excursions

You will be having excursions during this retreat. Excursions and activities change with the season and the type of retreat you are attending. Therefore what is finalized at the start of the retreat can differ. Some examples of excursions you can expect are SSI Saturday Market, hikes, artist studio tour, etc.

Nomi (Sat Guru Kaur) Davis had the great fortune to grow up on Salt Spring Island. Though she has traveled extensively, she has always felt a strong connection to her roots. With degrees in natural health and theatre, Nomi enjoys offering new possibilities to create more wellness and joy in her guests’ lives.

Location

This retreat will be held on the shoreline of the pristine Cusheon Lake on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada. The largest of the Gulf Islands, Salt Spring boasts Canada’s warmest year-round climate and is also the country’s organic farming capital.

During this retreat, you will be provided with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The meals are healthy vegetarian dishes that are completely satisfying and rewarding.Paradise Found Yoga can also cater to vegan and other special diets as long as you let them know of any specific food requirements beforehand; they will do their best to cater to your needs. Please note that any dietary requests must be made no later than four days before the retreat so that they can accommodate your needs.

Salt Spring offers a rich experience for anyone. You can beach-comb, hike, golf, swim, shop, sample wares, or do nothing at all.

Spa treatments

The retreat price includes choice of spa treatments. You may choose from the following:

Acupuncture

A traditional Chinese medicine offered by local therapists using needles, herbs, moxibustion, and other tools to release blocked energy and treat specific illnesses.

Massage

A range of massage styles from local therapists are available with both registered and non-registered practitioners: Swedish, Shiatsu, Relaxation, Reiki, Aromatherapy, and Sports.

Reflexology

A relaxing and soothing “whole body” massage via the feet, or the hands, or ears. Reflexology is an ancient powerful but gentle massage art. It aids the body in releasing stress and allowing life force to flow.

Sound therapy

Using the healing techniques of your own voice and breath learn to heal yourself from within. Simple vocal and physical exercises along with music, will help you tap deeply into your personal healing journey.

Wellness consultation

Experts will look at your deep patterns of wellness: nutritional, history, and lifestyle. Understanding how they are created can help you create more of what you want in mental, emotional, and physical health. Gain an awareness of your biggest danger areas and a set of new dietary and lifestyle tools to make small, easy changes that will have huge impacts in your life.

A detailed and personalized program, including diet, exercise, and sound and creative play is created so that you can help yourself live in a more balanced, healthy, and joyous way. Work together with PFY to create something that you can achieve and stick to.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please arrange your flight to arrive at Victoria International Airport (YYJ). From there, it’s about a 15-minute taxi ride to the ferry which will take you to Swartz Bay. The ferry ride is 35 minutes to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island. There is also an intermittent shuttle as well as the city bus that may work for you. Ask the Red Coats in the airport for assistance to direct you.

You may also arrive at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). From there, it’s best to take a five-minute taxi ride to the float plane wharf. Then take a seaplane, just 30 minutes into downtown Ganges. If you do not arrive at a convenient time to connect to a seaplane, or if you arrive later than the last seaplane, you might think of staying the night in Vancouver or a nearby airport hotel. You can then catch a seaplane (from downtown or the airport) or a coach line to the ferry the next day. Or explore Vancouver for a few days if you arrival is even earlier.
