Purnam means completeness in Sanskrit. The retreat mission is to facilitate guests to experience life in fullness - both materially and spiritually. To meet this objective, the retreat is in a posh villa close to a sunny and clean beach with comfortable rooms, serene meditation halls, transforming meditations, beautiful sit-outs, green gardens, a quiet library, and warm hospitality.


Mooladhara is a room designed with the essential aspects of element 'earth' or the root chakra. Like the root of the tree, the base chakra enhances the foundation of one's life. The props and meditation seat of this room helps in bringing much-needed balance and certainty in one's life.


Anahata is a room designed with the essential aspects of nature. The room's designs and aesthetics are planned to enhance the much-needed tranquility in one's life.


Vishudhi is a room designed with one of the five elements at its center, and that is the sky. The color theme blue matches the color of the vast sky and the designs and aesthetics gives you a feeling of calmness and abundance from within.

Purnam Meditation Retreat is nestled away from the noise of the city, away from the crowd and chaos, and surrounded by a good green cover. The clean and almost empty beach is within walking distance, so is the PVR cinemas.

There are hardly any immediate neighbors, giving the much-required calmness to contemplate, listen to the rustle of the trees, bird chirps, breathe fresh air, and rejuvenate.

The famous shore temples of Mahabalipuram are just 20 minutes away, and Pondicherry is at a 1.5-hour distance. There are many restaurants, cafes, and eateries on the ECR for you to choose from.

The price includes three vegetarian meals per day. Breakfast time is from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. One drink (tea / coffee) is included in the breakfast. Any extra will be charged at 50 INR per cup. All meals are consumed in the dining area. This is an alcohol-free retreat.

Dakshinachitra Museum, Muttukadu (5.8 kilometers)

A museum with a difference, this is about the living history of the Southern heritage of India. It houses a collection of art, murals, and artifacts pertaining to the South Indian traditions. There is also a shop here from where you can buy handicrafts and gift items to take back home as memoirs.

PVR cinemas

In the mood for a movie night? Walk down to the main road and you will find the swanky new PVR across the road. It also has an upcoming food court.

ISKCON Temple, Akkarai (5.7 kilometers)

This is the largest Radha Krishna temple in Tamil Nadu. The temple is open from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for visitors.

Kart Attack, Akkarai (3.9 kilometers)

Looking for an adventurous ride? You can go go-karting at Kart Attack for a few hours of thrilling fun. Open from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. On weekends, it starts from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Cholamandal Artist Village, Injambakkam (7.1 kilometers)

A must visit for an art lover, this place dates back to 1966 and till now, over 20 artists live here with their families. The village consists of many art galleries, open-air theaters, paintings, sculptures, and different types of handicrafts. Open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Shirdi Sai Baba Temple, Injambakkam (7.9 kilometers)

A large clean, calm, and pleasant place with lots of greenery. The beach is close by.

Surfing at Kovalam Beach (8 kilometers)

The waves are perfect for surfers both amateurs and experienced ones. You can also learn the skill at Bay of Life Surf School at Kovalam.

Tiger caves, Pattipulam (24 kilometers)

This natural historical attraction is a must-visit. On the way to Mahabalipuram, a great place for everyone.

Mahabalipuram (28 kilometers)

The most popular tourist attraction near Chennai, Mahabalipuram is famous for its ancient temples and scenic beaches. A day out plan is an ideal way to explore the full area.

Pondicherry (123 kilometers)

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Chennai International Airport (MAA). Uber and Ola are available at all hours at the airport. If you let Purnam Meditation Retreat know about your schedule, they can also pre-book the cabs. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Purnam Meditation Retreat from the airport, and the fare would be approximately 500 INR.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 5 days before arrival.
