Jenny at first loved the soft and gentle approach of yoga and she still does. However, as she regained her mental and emotional strength and increasingly made yoga her number one priority, she began to reap the benefits from Ashtanga, Flow Yoga, Bikram and Hot Flow as well as from practicing in different environments including retreats, studios, beaches, parks, Ashrams and at home. Jenny's yoga practice is further complemented by her love of singing and dance and of course she intertwines the spirit of yoga into these too.
Anna is a certified Vinyasa Flow Yoga teacher & a neuro-physiotherapist. Her classes are often inspired by nature's elements allowing her students to connect more deeply to the surroundings. In India, she lived a simple life of purity & tranquility learning from Hatha & Ashtanga masters. She discovered that she enjoys most the creativity of Vinyasa Flow. She practises Ashtanga regularly & enjoy fusing elements of the series into her flow classes. Anna believes in finding a harmonious relationship between energies & often teaches & practises Yin Yoga restoring the balance of body, mind & spirit
Dina started practicing yoga on her own some 15 years ago with magazine photos at her disposal she learnt what she could. Until she found a teacher in 2009 and immediately jumped into the Kundalini Teacher Training. She’d practiced and assisted in teaching while she studied Power Yoga in 2011. She's been teaching Power Yoga since this moment in the Netherlands and she now continues doing this in Barcelona, Spain. Since 2014 she's been learning more about anatomy and pranayama with different teachers. When teaching she approaches her students’ needs taking into account what their bodies allow.
Lara is a professional contemporary dancer and this is how she got her first access to Yoga, within her dance training. Hungry for more profound understanding and the desire to share her insights after already having been teaching Yoga in summer youth camps, she completed my teaching certificate in (Hot) Vinyasa Yoga in 2016 and started sharing her passion for Yoga with more Yogis. Now, she is continuing her Yogic path and research while teaching Vinyasa, Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Yin and Aerial Yoga. Her teaching style is welcoming, open, encouraging and very dynamic.
Joy von Winckelmann
During work as a dance teacher Joy started practicing yoga, originally because of the physical workouts, but soon she realised the full potential of it. She decided to go to India to explore. After she passed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, Hatha Ashtanga Vinyasa in Varkala, it became clear to her that this was the path she was meant to take. Since then she taught regular classes in Sri Lanka and now in Holland where she is currently based. Joy mostly teaches a dynamic mix of Vinyasa and Ashtanga. Her classes are playful, challenging and of course always fun.
Lucy is from Norfolk, UK and trained in Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda in Spain in 2017 (Yoga Alliance Certified) and Swedish Full Body Massage. She uses elements from her training in Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda to aid restoring the body safely and creating deep relaxation and harmony. Her passion is to share the gift of yoga and help people use it to express themselves and find their happiness and balance. She supports each student on their journey and ensures variations and adaptions for injuries, health conditions and physical limitations.
Michelle's first experience with yoga was when she was training as a professional dancer. She was lucky enough to be surrounded by teachers hugely interested in mindful movement and began absorbing the benefits from then on. Michelle qualified as an Ashtanga-Vinyasa teacher after studying at Sampoorna Yoga in Goa two years ago after teaching and performing dance for over ten years. She been teaching in different places in England ever since. She teaches a variety of styles: Vinyasa flow, Ashtanga, yin yang flows, but her passion is a fusion of Ashtanga Vinyasa.
Allison been practicing yoga for more than 20 years. She has spent some time in Mysore, India practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa with Sheshadri, and also back bending with Venkatesh. She has lived for many years in Asia with her husband running their own Yoga studios teaching drop-in classes, workshops, retreats and teacher training's. Her main teaching styles are Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga, and Aerial Yoga. Her focus being long term functional movement and overall fitness, making Yoga accessible to all body types within an empowering experience.
Bregje is a yoga teacher & humanitarian worker & has been studying Yoga & Alexander Technique for the last 13 years. She gained her 200 & 300 hours Hatha Yoga Teacher Training certificates in 2015 & has been teaching group classes, private classes & various retreats since then. She has been taking contemporary dance classes at the professional level for the last 10 years. Her teachings are a combination of Hatha & (slow) Vinyasa, with much emphasis on correct alignment & safety. She has been practicing Alexander Technique for thirteen years & she incorporates it in her classes.
Katie did her very first Yoga class 16 years ago. For years, Yoga was just something she did as a hobby. Eight years ago it all started to change, slowly. She started a more dedicated yoga practice and everything she was learning on the mat, had started to seep out into her life. In 2016 she decided to travel to Rishikesh where she received my Hatha Yoga Teaching Certificate. She immediately started to share what she had learned by teaching classes to a whole range of students. Her aim is to bring a sense of fun and lots of laughter and playfulness to this retreat.
Oskar's interest in yoga & meditation started in the late 1960s when his mother had him practice Hatha Yoga with her. By the mid 1990s he was introduced to Astanga Vinyasa (Mysore) by a friend. He studied with different teachers from India, SE Asia, Australia, America & Europe. Oskar paid special attention to the study of Physiology and Anatomy, particularly for movement and rehabilitation after injury. He also studied Sports & Remedial Massage, Thai Massage, Chavutti Thirumal (Indian Rope massage from Kerala), level 1&2 Reiki.
Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Siddhi Yoga)
Katie is a 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certified & Animalia Asana® yoga teacher. She trained in multi-style yoga in 2015, under the guidance & wisdom of Guru Mahinder Prasad at Siddhi Yoga in Dharamsala, India. In 2018 she studied with Jenny Mace to become an official Animalia Asana® Yoga teacher. She teaches Vinyasa Flow, restorative hatha-style & Yin yoga. With a keen interest in both yoga and the natural world, she love to integrate nature and animal elements into my teachings. She feels this is a genuine way to inspire ahimsa - the practice of non-violence.
Rosie started practising yoga 13 years ago with the aim of touching her toes, but when she got there she carried on going, realising that there was more to this than loose hamstrings; yoga offered her a sense of perspective & peace. In 2016 she undertook her first training in dynamic vinyasa flow. Since then she has taught across London & undertaken additional training in pre-natal, post-natal & restorative yoga. Rosie teaches a dynamic vinyasa practise, with creative sequencing, long holds & use of props to help us better access each pose in a safe & joyful way.

"Couldn't be happier"
I loved this place. The location itself is perfect, so tranquil and beautiful. Plenty of time to be with others and have your own space. Class schedule worked really well, food was incredible (and there was plenty of it!), and I met some really wonderful people. I would 100% recommend this for total beginners and experienced yogis, and I already want to go back!

first of all, elliot is an excellent host who created a little paradise in the mountains. the tents are really big and cozy, the pool refreshing and you feel so connected to nature. the yoga lessons helped me a lot to be more aware of my practice and our instructor lara gave me some worthful tipps. i was travelling alone and i easy connected to the group and had a lot of fun. see you again elliot :)

"Even better than expected! - The perfect balance!"
Rustic retreats was the perfect balance. Rustic enough to feel homely, comfortable and at ease but luxurious enough to not be totally roughing it. With chic y and wine and massages available - you could choose your level of comfort.
Elliot’s food was delicious and wholesome and filling!
The surroundings were beautiful and there was plenty to do with lots of advice from Elliot.
Elliot himself was kind and welcoming and brought some light and fun! It wasn’t all serious and scary meditation...
And Lara was the perfect yoga teacher. She was kind and totally un-judgemental and able to provide classes for a mixed group.
It was my first ever time doing yoga and I was nervous and intimidated but Lara and Elliot made em feel welcome and comfortable and created the perfect atmosphere for solitude, meditation but also light hearted fun - the perfect balance!

Great experience living off grid for a week and being more conscious of the water and electricity we use daily as well as the waste we produce. Loved the outdoor shower! Really enjoyed the healthy lifestyle, starting the day early with a refreshing walk to the yoga platform uphill. Great yoga and meditation sessions, interesting workshops in the afternoon, lovely to relax and read in a hammock or by the pool the rest of the day... I can't not mention Elliot's amazing veggie meals... as well as his hospitality, kindness and attention to details. I loved picking up fresh lemons every morning, sleeping in belltents, the movie night under the stars... without forgetting the amazing group of people I have met there! Divine week at Bagend - would highly recommend.

"Gorgeous yoga retreat in the Spanish mountains"
Had a wonderful week at Rustic Retreats, hosted by Elliot, who could not have been more welcoming, fun and generous with his lovely home. The accommodation was very comfortable - bell tents surrounded by lemon and orange trees - and the vegetarian and vegan food prepared fresh every day was delicious. The yoga and meditation on the mountain platform was great, and left me feeling refreshed and creatively inspired. I would definitely go back - it's a gorgeous place to be!

Elliot is a great host, very easy-going and cheerful. Plus he is an amazing cook so even if you're not vegetarian, you'll truly enjoy the food.
I was a complete beginner and I loved the program of the week, as everyday was focused on a different kind of yoga. Jenny, our teacher, was very knowledgeable and adapted perfectly the class to the different levels within the group. I felt very comfortable on the mat.
The place is off-grid, but still very comfortable, it is not that rustic. You'll sleep in large tents on a real bed. The surroundings are nice and quiet, it's the perfect place to recharge your batteries.
If you hesitate just go! It was the first time I practiced yoga and did this kind of holidays, so I didn't know what to expect, but I felt super comfortable and was surrounded by very open-minded and interesting people. I would definitely go back.

"A perfect off grid yoga experience "
Hard to pick as so many positive aspects. The location was fantastic. Surrounded by mountains , in the middle of an orange and lemon grove. The yoga platform had Impressive views. The bell tents were roomy with everything I needed. Everything was very relaxed and Elliot was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble. We had a film night with pizza, which was great fun. Also a trip out to the local market. We had 4 hours of yoga and meditation every day, even had the option of a class on the day we left. Excellent value for money.

"Wonderful retreat in the mountains"
The location in the mountains is great, and yoga on the platform looking out at the scenery is awesome. We had 5 hours of yoga most days, and that included a 30 minute sunrise meditation. The immersion in yoga was fantastic and Anna gave us a varied and interesting selection of yoga practices. She included mantra and visualisation, as well as theory, which was excellent.

"Disconnect and recharge in the Spanish countryside."
Elliott is an experienced, fantastic host with a big heart and great sense of humor. His commitment to off-grid, sustainable living is inspiring and his food delicious. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable. I slept better in the tent than in many hotels. The outdoor shower is beautiful and an experience. Many great trees and flowers surround the property even during the dry summer months. The view of the mountain facing the property is a highlight of many parts of the day. The schedule is well-designed to give plenty of time to the yoga practice but also leave a lot of time daily to rest and relax. It was a beautiful experience to meet my fellow retreaters and simply be in nature for 6 days.

"I <3 Bagend"
You have to experience Bagend to really know what an incredible place it is. Elliot is the most wondeful, open, warm, friendly and "gorgeous" host you could ever wish for. An oasis of peace amd tranquillity, an escape from the world, Bagend is a very special place. As a voga "virgin" the classes were challenging but Lara was such an encouraging teacher. The meditation was the best part for me, in just a couple of days I had headspace I haven't had in months. A truly restorative experience that I'll hold in my heart until I go back!

Bagend is the perfect place to find some peace ans quiet. You literally retreat from the rest of the world, for me that was before all busy city noises and I enjoyed being left with the sound of crickets. Elliot is your dad for the week (he said so himself) and will look after all your needs. Besides being extraordinary lovely he creates the most amazing food: tasty, delicious and healthy. I found this to be important since I'm not used to two yoga practices a day and developed quite an appetite. But you decide how often you would like to practice or rather stay in the hammocks or by the pool or go for a walk in the beautiful spanish mountains. You do what ever you like. It was perfect! I can only recommend it to anyone.

It was amazing! The yoga and meditation classes that Margo provided we're fun and daring, being surrounded by the beautiful scenery made it even more special & easy to go on a hike, the food was delicious (can't wait for Elliot's cool book), and Elliot is the best host you can wish for with his fun & warm personality!

Quelle chance d'avoir eu mes premiers cours de yoga, ma première expérience de camping et de vie "off grid" dans cet endroit et avec ces personnes alors présentes !

"New year retreat"
This was the most incredible introduction into 2019. I feel fresh and revitalised and ready to get back to everyday life, with lots of tools to help stay calm. The location allows you to wind down, being amongst the mountains takes you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, having loads of space to breath and take it easy. Lucy the yoga instructor was inspiring and empathetic, really listening to the needs of the group. Elliot the founder of Rustic Retreats is just an absolute ray of sunshine, I was in fits of laughter all week! And his cooking is incredible, you will be well nourished and everything’s organic. I can not recommend this retreat enough, for what you get it is great value for money. I certainly plan to be back again soon!
