Bell tents

Rustic Retreats beautifully furnished bell tents are simple yet sumptuous. With comfy beds and crisp, fresh linen, it’ll be a luxury glamping experience you’ll never forget! As you lay your head down, let the sweet scent of the nearby lemon and orange groves carry you off to sleep as you doze under the glorious, star-filled sky. A truly blissful way to end your day.

​Rest and relaxation

You’ll be spoiled for choice for ways to rest and relax. You could take a dip in our refreshing swimming pool, or lounge lazily in the hammock area while taking in the beautiful views. Why not pull up a sun lounger in the shaded terrace, and enjoy one of many books or board games? And at the end of your day, after an invigorating workshop, you can head past the almond trees to our lovely wooden meditation cabin, with breathtaking views over the valley.

Bathrooms and showering

As a totally off-grid yoga retreat, Rustic Retreats Team have lovely, solar-powered showers, or if you prefer, an amazing outdoor shower block, so you can literally shower under the stars!

Electricity and internet

They provide guests with internet connection, and the bell tents come ready with solar electricity.

Program

You can expect a slow, gentle style of yoga throughout the whole retreat. Mornings will be dedicated to a gentle Asana practice based on Hatha or Yoga Therapy. In the evenings, you will mainly experience Restorative yoga (a complete release thanks to props) or pure meditation and relaxation.

As for the physical part, the main focus will be on therapeutic movement and poses, using props, developing flexibility or stability where needed and finding deep release of stress and tension from the body. You will also study helpful cleansing and breathing techniques to get rid of toxins and to restart the whole system.

You will also go way beyond the physical. There will be a lot of breathing, awareness, and meditation. Rustic Retreats will bathe you in the sound of tibetan singing bowls and mantras, guide you into deep relaxation in Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep). They will let out some serious sighs and embrace the relief.

Your Rustic Retreats journey

True healing comes from within. This daily yoga and meditation practice will naturally guide you into a deep sense of release, enabling you to begin the recovery process from the right place.

There will be valuable space and time in daily workshops for self-reflection, self-acceptance and transformation of the energy which is no longer serving you into something you can truly use for your own growth.

To understand how yoga can help you both on and off the mat, you will use these workshops to dive into the amazing yogic principles of Yamas (restraints) and Niyamas (disciplines). These are the first two steps in Patanjali’s eightfold path of yoga, teaching you how to take care of yourself and how to relate to other people. They are very helpful when it comes to healing and recovery, as they bring you closer to your true selves, and eventually to a more balanced, joyful state of well-being.

In each of the workshops, you focus on specific Yamas and Niyamas, expanding your awareness, carefully noticing the world outside as well as the inner one. You will use many tools to balance it all out and to embrace change and transformation as a crucial part of the healing process.

Becoming aware (Satya, Svadhyaya)

As a first step, you will actually stop and take time to notice, observe mindfully and listen, being absolutely swallowed by the beauty of all the colours, textures and shapes around you - and within you!

The Niyama called Svadhyaya (self-study) will guide you to study the true nature of your being and the world around you. Satya (truthfulness) will then help you lift your own illusions and excuses to see who you truly are, aligned with what you think, say and do. %What patterns do you keep holding on to? Which of them are truly helpful and leading to your growth? Which of them are no longer serving you?

Accepting (Ahimsa, Santosha)

After seeing what’s there, you will use various techniques to accept it. A crucial step on the way to transform and heal! Using the Yama called Ahimsa (non-violence), you will discover the unlimited source of compassionate love and acceptance that you all carry within your hearts and turn it towards your own self.

Is there anything holding you back when it comes to self-love? Do you repeatedly try to fulfill other people’s expectations or do you truly follow our own heart-felt path? What do you find difficult to accept about your own self and others?

Learning to love and fully accept all that you are will open you up for the next step - lovingly and gratefully accepting who and whatever is surrounding you at the moment (the Niyama of Santosha, contentment). You will celebrate this energy with a movement workshop, to help you accept, love and cherish your body and the freedom of your self-expression.

From this space of unconditional love and acceptance, a healthy choice can be made and a true transformation can happen with effortless ease.

Finding an intention (Asteya, Brahmacharya)

What do you want? What do you REALLY want? What is it that is truly important? What is worth your time and effort?

If I said that you can have absolutely anything your heart desires what would you choose? The universe is a field of unlimited possibilities. All you need to meet your desires is awareness, intention, silence and letting go of your own doubts and limitations. The next step on your healing journey will be all about intentions.

With the help of visualizations, intuitive drawing and two Yamas – Asteya (non-stealing) and Brahmacharya (non-indulgence), you begin placing your true intention. Both Yamas will show you where to look for true values and where your energy (and attention) is being wasted. Both of these Yamas will help you understand where you truly want to go and how much you can get by giving back to the world.

Transforming (Saucha, Tapas)

You have probably heard it: life is change and change is life. Everything in your material world is changing constantly. When you stop struggling against it and truly embrace change in your life, you can finally start living in the moment, care-free. Right here and right now.

For that to happen with ease, you call upon two incredibly powerful Niyamas – Saucha (cleanliness) and Tapas (self-discipline). In this workshop, you will invite transformation into your life and learn a couple of yogic cleansing techniques. That, together with the Niyamas, will help you greatly to cleanse yourself from old habits, toxins, negative thoughts, attachments or patterns you keep coming back to even though you know they’re limiting you.

To truly heal, to truly recover on all levels of your being, you need to rid yourself of all of these things. But don’t worry, you will take it step by step. That’s Tapas – a continuous practice that burns all that negative stuff away. The transformation is what gives you power, energy and vitality. After that, healing comes naturally.

Letting go (Aparigraha, Ishwara Pranidhana)

The final step on your journey is to heal, renew, and recover. You will practice this extremely important part of the process through a series of writing and visualization exercises, singing healing mantras and a transformational fire ceremony. Whatever you have become aware of during the week, whatever intentions you have set, you will cast it all into the flames and let the universe work out the details.

With the help of Aparigraha (detachment) and Ishwara Pranidhana (surrender), you will let go of the results, of any expectations of the outcome, of all the clinging and holding and grabbing. You will learn how to trust the universe - it knows what it’s doing, even when we don’t. When you do that, you will finally find the true release on all levels of your being. And that’s when the magic happens.

The food at Rustic Retreats comprise of only the freshest, seasonal local produce. As you will discover, the fruit and vegetables in this region are second to none.

Rustic Retreats grow plenty of ingredients in organic vegetable patch and on many fruit trees. Some of the fruit they have growing freely on site include lemons, oranges, almonds, pomegranates, and carob - to name a few!

Otherwise they go to the nearby town to buy from the local markets and farmers, many of whom they are on a first name basis with!

Rustic Retreats run a vegetarian kitchen, and they can cater for special dietary needs - please let them know when you book. All meals are included in the price, and alcohol is available at a small extra charge. There’s also an all-day snack bar (not included in the price).

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Fly into to Alicante, then it's a two-hour train journey (6 EUR) through the beautiful Spanish countryside down to Totana station where Rustic Retreats will collect you.

Alternatively, fly into Corvera Airport Murcia (RMU). There is a bus transfer (costs 6 EUR), and it takes 25 minutes to Murcia train station. You can also get a taxi or hire a car (40 minutes by car to Totana). Train to Totana takes 40 minutes and costs approximately 3.75 EUR.

Arrival by train

Arrive at Totana station where Rustic Retreats will collect you.

Arrival by taxi

You can get a taxi from the airport which would cost 170 EUR and upwards. Also, there are car hire options at the airport.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 28 days before arrival.
