San Marco is special.

A hippy community since over 30 years - in harmony with the natives.

The Yoga Forest is even more so, a special place to stay for a yoga retreat or sustainable organic farming in midst of the jungle.

It's about 20 minutes walk from the village.

Prices are rather high, in comparison to those in the village, but first of all it includes the meals and there is a discounted price for a week.

A highly recommendable place with an amazing view over the lake and an indispensable visit for sustainable living.

It's even wifi free!!! That helps to unwind and arrive in the jungle.

I came to Guatemala for The Story Teller Within retreat organized and facilitated by Aimee Hansen. The Yoga Forest was a beautiful venue for this retreat, located in the Guatemalan highlands, offering unparalleled views of Lake Atitlan (often cited one of the most beautiful lakes in the world ;)). The accommodations were awesome - I had the opportunity of staying in two shared cabanas, one on the lower level, and one on the upper, Lakshmi. Both were very comfortable and clean, and offered amazing views of the lake and forest.

The staff at the Yoga Forest were very welcoming and made each guest feel like family.

The food was fantastic, even for me, being a meat-lover ;)

The energy at this venue was very warm and positive. Being in seclusion, surrounded by wonderful people and the raw beauty of nature, really enhanced my retreat experience.
