Set amidst the best parts of the Ontario landscape – the Wye Marsh, a sugar bush, open meadows – Sugar Ridge Retreat Centre offers a perfect place for short and long terms retreats. I have taught both short yoga workshops and silent meditation retreats in this peaceful setting. Supported by sensitive staff, a stellar practice hall, and brand-new architectural straw bale cabins, this is a perfect place for retreat.

Caroline Owen and I delivered our trauma-informed yoga training at Sugar Ridge in October 2015, and we were very impressed at the level of professionalism and customer service, the quality of the facilities, and excellent meals delivered on behalf of Liz and her team. From the time we booked the facility, through the student registration process, to the very end of our workshop, we were provided with ample support, guidance and warm hospitality, making the whole venture very straightforward and easeful. The organic, cozy feel of the buildings, beautiful natural setting, and resident dogs really contributed to the welcoming atmosphere. Sugar Ridge felt like “home” for those 4 days, and I look forward to the possibility of delivering further workshops at this wonderfully peaceful, all-inclusive getaway venue.

What can I say to describe our experience up at Sugar Ridge? There are not many retreat centres in Ontario that can support our requirements for the Moksha Yoga Level 2 Teacher Training, and even fewer that meet our expectations for eco-friendliness. Liz and her family are not only eco-friendly, but people-friendly too, and showed us the most gracious and generous hospitality. Oh, and the food… The food was unbelievably nourishing and yummy – it meant a lot to us that the food used was organic where possible and vegetarian, and added to our experience greatly.

What else? Beautiful grounds to hike through or practice walking meditation, cozy, cozy cabins to retreat to after a day of study and fun, and did I mention yummy food?!?!

Again, we are quite particular as to where we have our teacher training programs, and we couldn’t have been more happy with Sugar Ridge.”

The overwhelming response from our students and both Scott and I is so positive: in every way, you exhibited kindness, hospitality, and care. I especially loved the yoga studio; it was a pleasure teaching in that space. I would unequivocally recommend Sugar Ridge to anyone looking for a place to hold a retreat.

We are all still talking about our weekend and the experience. The girls loved everything – even the work part!! The drumming was a perfect ending, as the yoga was the perfect beginning to our day. We cried and we laughed. It was truly wonderful.

I arrived at this beautiful and peaceful oasis created by Liz and Kurt, welcomed by wildflower gardens and birds singing. Our cabins are simple and perfectly comfortable. Windows let in wonderful fresh air. The main lodge is welcoming and friendly. The yoga and meditation always leaves me wanting more. Outdoor patio, hiking trails, and opportunities for plain air painting made for a perfect getaway. The food is wonderful and healthy too! I've been to Sugar Ridge three times now, and will be back! Highly recommended. Thank you, Liz and Kurt.

Hosting our weekend retreat at SugarRidge was an absolute delight! Not only were the surroundings beautiful, welcoming, and vibrating with good energy but I felt very at home immediately. Delicious food, comfortable and cozy cabins, gorgeous communal hub center, and acres and acres of nature surrounding it's impossible not to want to stay as long as humanly possible. As a facilitator, I felt completely looked after yet free to lead and organize the day to suit our groups needs. Liz and company are fun, committed, and warm as hosts and I could not have asked for a better experience. It was truly tops!"After searching and searching for a place to film a passion project, I felt like the luckiest man on earth to find something as surreal, unique, and beautiful as Sugar Ridge Retreat Centre. We used the retreat over the course of a weekend and it was nothing but a positive experience in all ways possible, from facilities to the use of the land. The service was fantastic and the staff made us literally feel like home. Anyone looking to 'get away' or to relax, will not be disappointed and I can only hope to visit Sugar Ridge sooner than later.

I had looked through countless retreat centers on the internet and even went so far as to drive around for weeks visiting various places and checking out the facilities. The moment I stepped into Sugar Ridge Retreat Centre I knew that this was the place to host my weekend. From the welcoming atmosphere and amazing grounds, coupled with the phenomenal hosts and open spaces, this is the best place I could hope for to attend a weekend retreat or host one. The food was well above par and the facilities were perfect. Liz is an absolute delight to work with and her open heart and welcoming energy makes you feel as if you are in her home. I can't wait to go back there to lead my next retreat, in fact I plan to visit it again soon just as a getaway for me and my husband or even for me and a few friends. And with the location from the city and value, this is hands down the place to be.

It was my first time staying at the retreat center this spring for a weekend retreat and I have to say, it was truly a wonderful time in every way. The center itself is very cozy and comfortable with lots of natural light and a true country feel. The simplicity of the space and design was so airy and light and I immediately felt at home. The people who run the center are such beautiful, humble and heart centered beings and were just plain authentic people and very friendly service. The cabins were clean, simple and warm during the chilly nights and the location of everything seemed perfectly spaced out (the cabins in proximity to the main retreat house). I loved the showers especially as the water filtration seemed to make my skin glow! It was a joy to stay there for the weekend and I highly recommend it for the perfect getaway from the city anytime!
