Our welcome to the Amala was perfect. The staff are very attentive and the ice tea upon arrival was a nice touch to cool down from the heat. We stayed in one of the spa villas which was great to come back to after a day of walking around. The steamer shower and outdoor bath were a great added bonus. The breakfast menu had some great healthy options to start the day and the choice of having it brought to your villa was great. It was only a short walk into Seminyak or there is free shuttle bus that is offered. On our last night we were surprised with a candle lit bath which was a perfect end to a perfect stay. We will definitely be staying at the Amala in the future. Thank you to all the staff at the Amala for being so friendly and more than helpful. It made our holiday that extra bit special!

This is so far the best place I have stayed in. The cozy environment, the best in class amenities, spa villa, private jacuzzi, sauna, and what not. It has superb staff. Indians might find a little hiccup in food, rest for luxury and peace lovers, go and book it!

Best stay ever had. It has all the things best. Right from check-in to check out. It has best supporting staff who are ready to help any time. Always smiling. Staff greet you whenever they see you. Being vegetarian we were concerned about the food but they made fantastic vegetarian breakfast. They allowed us to use their kitchen to cook few things as well. Very fast room service. Receptionist are very very gentle person.

Pool vila has all the amenities anyone want in their rooms. Steam, jacuzzi everything is superb.

Those who are thinking of booking it do not hesitate for a second. Just book it.

From the moment we were greeted at the airport to our final farewell at the airport, this was an excellent experience. Our first visit to Bali, for a family wedding we could not have asked for more.

Our Deluxe room was immaculately clean and serviced perfectly every day. Our booking included one hour daily Spa treatments for each of us. We experienced several different massages, each one seeming to surpass the other and a facial and foot treatment. The therapists were all warmly friendly, respectful and expert practitioners.

Breakfast was delicious and there were several options to choose from and the coffee was wonderful.

From the Manager to the Pool Maintenance Man the staff were without exception welcoming and helpful.

They arranged for one of their drivers (who is as much a tour guide as a driver) to take us to Ubud with stops on the way and we signed up for a Balinese Cooking Class, from their Chef Wayan. Because we had chosen a menu that included fish, our class included a visit to the Fish Market at Jimbaran Bay where we given some tips on selecting the freshest fish.

Said cooking class was great. Wayan demonstrated techniques and chef's secrets then we were given the chance to emulate them. The resulting meal was a feast!

On our final day our flight was late in the day and without our asking we were offered late checkout at no extra cost.

All in all a wonderful few days. Can't imagine that anyone could match the service and generosity of our hosts. Many thanks to all at The Amala.

As a designer, I like to have my rest and space but I also like to run around. The Amala gives you both! Basically its a win win situation right here. You stay around the corner from all the amazing food places, which in my case is a must. Seminyak is the area for young couples for sure. Don't stay here with a group of friends at the Amala, as its more for couples and newlyweds! If you don't feel like leaving the resort, dinner is a delight at the Bamboo restaurant! The resort is small but I feel this is needed when you are here for rest. The service is amazing. They will help you with anything. If you feel like a tour around Bali, they will help you getting around and book a driver for the day. Breakfast can be served in your villa. The rooms are big. We stayed in a villa with a private pool and you can just run out of bed in the morning and jump in for a fresh start. The bathroom came with a bath and a shower, separately. Also a living room plus kitchen for your needs. I know when I go back to Bali, The Amala is my first place to go to.

If you are looking for a quite and cozy villas hotels in Busy Seminyak, then for sure the Amala is the place to go.

Stayed for 4 nights in a spa villa on my honeymoon, staff were very friendly, villa has all you need, and breakfast in the room every morning. Pampering at its best. Although the breakfast wasn't that tasty.

The hotel has also a very low key Thai fusion restaurant (only around 5 tables) that is actually very good and offers delicious dishes (called Bamboo)

I would highly recommend this hotel for couples wanting to escape the busy Seminyak but still a walking distance away from everything.

The only downside I have to mention is that we found worms in the shower and one in the room, but still kind of expected when your on an island full of jungles and these worms only appeared when it was raining very heavily the last day of our stay.

Stayed here for 3 nights in one of the deluxe rooms, an amazing place, really quiet and relaxing, very intimate. Staff where so friendly and helpful, car service is a nice extra. Food was amazing as was the service. Room was very nicely designed with the toilet and shower outside. Only €2 or €3 in a taxi from the centre of Seminyak. Yoga and spa also available. If your looking for an relaxed couples stay this place is great.

As others have said, Amala is hidden away just off of a main road, so much so that even some of the local drivers don't know it's there. That's the first thing that makes this place special.

Following that, it's treat after treat, as you're welcome with a beaming smile, unrivalled courtesy and complete respect. It's humbling to be welcomed in such a way.

The villas are dreamlike; private pool, shower and steam room, outside bath...then the rooms are incredible. The attention to detail is really what sets them apart - fresh Balinese fruit every day, a complimentary mini bar full of soft drinks, amazing incense and candles burning when you arrive. We were sat down in our villa and walked through everything by the ever cheerful Kadek.

We had dinner sitting outside our villa, next to the pool on the first night and the food was excellent (the steamed fish was unreal). The breakfast each day is tasty, and you can pick pretty much as much as you want from it. The breakfast menu is also big enough to eat something different each day and still find surprises. The menu also highlights healthy, vegan and glutenfree options.

You're given complimentary welcome massages as part of your reservation. My girlfriend and I decided to upgrade to the 90 minute massage instead; cucumber drink on arrival, foot wash and a very impressive all body massage made us both fall asleep!

All in all, an amazing place to stay. Don't hesitate in booking, as you won't be disappointed.

Thanks to Amelie, Kadek and all the other wonderful staff at Amala for an amazing stay. We'll be back.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Amala Seminyak. The deluxe room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The pool was beautiful and relaxing. The location was good. What I think made this hotel GREAT was the facilities and the staffs willingness to go above and beyond. I loved that they offered free yoga classes. The library/study room and the pool lounge give the place a little something extra also. The staff were SO helpful in organizing for me to go to popular restaurants, phoning days ahead to ensure I got a reservation. Also they offered the Amala car to me for free whenever it was available (I only had to pay for a taxi once)! This is something I have never encountered at any other hotel and I really appreciated it. If I was so suggest any improvements it would be to the restaurant, the food I had there was not really up to the high standard you normally receive in Bali, but it was perfectly adequate. Overall, I loved my stay at the Amala.

The Amala resort in Seminyak was the perfect place to relax in a luxurious private little retreat in paradise. I stayed for two nights in the spa villa, where the interior was to die for with it’s own private plunge jet pool and Jacuzzi and outdoor bathtub! Overall there was an incredibly zen ambiance and breathtaking architecture about the Amala and the rooms were spacious and unbelievably comfortable.

The staff were so warm, friendly and attentive and went above and beyond for us by always making sure all of our every needs and wants were met. Another big bonus whilst staying at the Amala was having a personal driver who could drop you off in the Seminyak area for free! The Amala is perfectly situated up a secluded driveway off a main street in Seminyak which meant you're away from the hustle and bustle but still within walking distance from the central part of Seminyak! Breakfast was included along with a complimentary 15-minute massage!

I would highly recommend the private adults only Amala as THE perfect place to stay for a little bit of R&R with your best girlfriends or for couples!

Our stay at the Amala was perfect. I stayed with my husband for eight days and booked a deluxe room. As nice as this was we decided to upgrade half way through our stay to a pool villa which was absolutely beautiful.

We loved the free massage we got every day as part of the deluxe room package that we booked. All the girls were lovely at the spa we were in heaven!

The breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. We only ate dinner once in the Amala and had the steak which was lovely

We booked a day out to tour Ubud with the driver Ran from the Amala who was great. He was very knowledgeable and friendly throughout the whole trip.

All of the staff at the Amala were amazing and couldn't have been more helpful. They delivered amazing service.

The Amala itself is beautiful and we really relaxed in the beautiful surroundings. We really didn't want to go home and would love to visit again.

The Amala is located up a secluded almost hidden driveway off a main street in Seminyak. Warmly greeted by manager Amelia Tran and her team, we sipped on welcome drinks while the seamless check-in procedure was completed and we were led by Amelia herself through this little calm retreat to our very own corner of private luxury, a much anticipated oasis of calm.

Our large sumptuous one-bedroom spa villa with muslin (mosquito net) closeted four-poster bed looked out onto its own private garden and open-air bathroom with a jacuzzi plunge pool, large bath and a shower that doubled up as a herb-fused steam room. A fragrant frangipani tree shadowed the pool and its beautiful white blooms were scattered around its edge on floating in the water, all very romantic and splendid, an absolute perfect spot for three days of relaxation.

The Amala, part of the Lifestyle group, is a wellness sanctuary tucked away from the glitz and some say soulless glamour of Seminyak that offers guests a zen like experience and a holistic stay. Feng shui symbols are dotted around the bamboo clad pathways and hidden in the beautiful lush foliage and water features. The central open-air Bamboo restaurant offers an international menu of organic food and juices as well as breakfast that was included in our room rate (breakfast can also be served in the privacy of your villa and a 24 hour butler service is included too). Amelia and her team were very helpful with dining suggestions and booked a range of reservations on our behalf including some from my Seminyak ‘to do’ list. Nothing and I mean nothing (they even prepared the other half a chicken porridge, a Balinese sickness remedy when he was feeling poorly) was too much trouble at this hotel that prides itself on a personal level of service.

Massages and yoga classes were on my agenda so we booked a couples spa package at the Bliss Spa. With loads of treatments and holistic therapies available for balancing body, mind and spirit we were spoilt for choice but decided on a 90 minute (added on our 15 minute complimentary welcome massage too) couples ‘Relaxing Romance’ massage and treatment. I really enjoyed our traditional Balinese massage and chocolate body wrap

We took a private morning yoga class with the very flexible Mr Budi in the upper floor yoga/wellness studio. He really put us through our paces and I have never done so many downward dogs in my life. Mr Budi who is also a holistic healer, gave us some one-on-one stretches for some of our problem areas he had identified during the class. The glass and wooden studio offers all types of yoga, meditation, pranayama, martial arts and additional fitness such as body toning in water and other holistic healing and body treatments, catering for individual and group needs. Like most hotels on the island, The Amala also offers Balinese cooking classes taught by the hotel’s Balinese Chef at the alfresco Bamboo restaurant.

The Amala has a four different accommodation options for different requirements and budgets. As well as the round the clock butler service there is a daily local fruit delivery and the room is mosquito proofed (as best they can) even evening as the pesky little critters a real problem here. A romantic candle-lit dinner can be served in your room/villa too if you don’t fancy exploring Seminyak’s amazing restaurant scene.

The Amala is a peaceful and relaxing environmentally friendly haven with fantastic staff and facilities, I loved staying here and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I would definitely stay there again given the chance which says it all.

Just enough off the track for some serenity and seclusion but close enough to venture out and be immersed in the Bali atmosphere, The Amala was an incredible place for our vacation. We wanted privacy and we felt completely relaxed from the moment we arrived. We loved everything about the property and our spa villa was perfect. The staff were not only friendly and accommodating but they went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying our time and had everything we needed, including organizing a full day excursion and coming back to a warm bath ready in our room. Thank you to The Amala and everyone there, we would definitely come back again.

We stayed here For Christmas and New Year (slightly delayed review) and we loved it. From the moment we arrived we felt very welcomed and relaxed.

The service was impeccable and the staff were lovely, they couldn't do enough for us. Amelie the manager was extremely efficient and helped make our stay an experience that we will never forget.

We loved the food, especially our breakfasts - the smoothies and home made banana pancakes were the best! We had a Pool Villa which we highly recommend, nothing beats coming back at the end of a long hot day and jumping straight into your own private pool to cool off - magic!.

You can get your provisions (food, beer, wine etc) just 50 yards down the road in the Bali Delhi supermarket (including changing up money). There are loads of nice bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. But taxi prices are so reasonable you can go further afield if you like for very little money.

Thank you Amelie, we will be back !

My husband and I stayed here for 12 nights for our honeymoon. What an amazing stay. The staff provide some of the best service I have ever experienced and this really made our stay. The staff were very attentive when providing meals for my dietary requirements and did not seem at all phased by my checking with them that my meal was actually gluten free.

I agree that the pool villas could use a little updating, however any problems with the room were dealt with quickly when we reported them. As for the bugs and lizards mentioned in other reviews, the hotel go to a number of lengths to keep these under control and I think that some animals are to be expected when travelling to a tropical climate in wet season.

Thanks to the staff for making our honeymoon so special.

We had a wonderful experience at the Amala. We had the great opportunity to stay at one of their awesome villas. Everything was just perfect! The structure is wonderful, relaxing, stylish, quiet and very well located. The staff is incredible, helpful and caring for every single detail. They really make you feel special. The reastaurant is excellent too! Although there're very good restaurants in Semyniak, we always had breakfast and lunch at the villa, as the most difficult thing is to get out, when you feel so well and relaxed! Rooms are comfortable, the pool and garden are private and clean, the bathrooms are awesome. We couldn't ask for anything better and we look forward to being back soon!

We had a blissful five night stay at the Amala at the beginning of our honeymoon. The indoor/oudoor spa villa is the perfect place to relax with private plunge pool and sun loungers. No detail is missed by the team, from the cold towels and chilled water in the car from the airport to the little honeymoon gift we were given on departure. The rooms are spotlessly clean and we had no trouble at all with mosquitoes or insects - impressive given how much of the space is outside. Breakfast was delicious with a wide range of choices and we'd also recommend the room service cocktail menu! The Amala is about 20 minutes walk to the beach and main eating/drinking areas - we were happy to walk as we wanted to explore but taxis are cheap and plentiful. The real stars of the show at the Amala are the staff - Amelie the manager is so friendly and chatted to us every day at breakfast, suggesting things to do around South Bali and arranging surf lessons and our onward transfer to Ubud. All the staff are professional, polite and friendly, and they make the hotel even more special. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone looking for peace and tranquility with easy access to all the sights and experiences of South Bali.

This is a small hotel with personal attention, with personal greetings by resort manager, reception greets you by name and we didn't have to ask twice for things to be done. The staff is aware at all times of your itinerary and reservation plans. Whilst it is slightly distant from main thoroughfare of shops, there is free shuttle service and taxi rides are no more than $5 AUD back to the hotel. The free airport pick up was great with cold drinks and cold face towel provided in the van, nice touch! If possible, I recommend the spa villa or pool villa. We had a promotional upgrade from deluxe room to spa villa and it was worth every cent. The Deluxe room 2&4 can be a bit noisy but not the villas. The restaurant has a good range of breakfast menu and drinks menu. The setting of the restaurant is beautiful with a true zen setting. The hotel also has a good massage, facial, spa treatment with complementary healthy juices before and ginger honey lime tea afterwards.

The Amala is truly a hidden gem in Seminyak. I planned to attend a wedding in a hotel near Seminyak beach but heard about the bad traffic in Bali. So I sent an email to The Amala about how long does it usually take. Some of my friends warned me a normal 6-7 mins ride could cost you an hour....The staff at Amala replied so promptly and resumed peace in my mind. Our flight was delayed due to volcanic ash for almost one day but the staff kept contact with us and made sure we got driver to pick us up at the airport which was excellent.Upon our arrival, Amelie greeted us and immediately made the arrangement of Spa and complimentary dinner after our check-in. It was all sweet and nice. I am really impressed by the personal touch and how they pamper you in every way! The breakfast was good. I looked forward everyday for my breakfast because I could choose different varieties, both western, Balinese and even Japanese tamagoyaki just for breakfast! (I am such a foodie...)On our 3rd day we were supposed to leave but our flight was delayed for another whole day... I was excited about more time to travel but at the same time worried about my accommodation that night. Luckily my travel agent communicated with the hotel before and our whole period of stay was extended for one more night!! (Since we arrived one day later than expected). The flexibility, promptness and helpfulness of the hotel really impressed me so much. Furthermore, we booked a charter car through the hotel and did some sight-seeing during the day.For those who booked deluxe room, don't be worried. It's all nice and good. Just that if you are a little afraid of insects you may get yourself mentally prepared as the bathroom is semi-outdoor ;) I took a night to get used to it and it's all good. I feel lucky that I decided to stay here since we were re-energized after the hectic but fun wedding. Without staying in such a relaxing hotel maybe we couldn't get ourselves recharged before heading back!P.S. The complimentary 1 hour spa/day per person made us so blissed-out. I think it's unique feature of the deluxe room? For me I would definitely pick this room type again next time, love the spa here.

My new wife and I scoured the net for hotels in Bali for our honeymoon and we finally shortlisted The Amala as we both love the outdoor setting available in the villas. When we reached, we were absolutely blown away by its serenity. We had a chance to stay in both the pool and spa villas. The pool villa was huge for two and is good if you like the space, which we appreciated. However when we got to the spa villa, we realized that it was what we were looking for when you really think about how much space can two people use. Bed was better too! It's cosy and because of the smaller size of the jacuzzi, the water tends to be warmer which made evening dips very pleasant, especially after your personal steam bath and a tree right in the middle of it which is quite indescribable. Mosquitoes were present so just get enough coils around the place and it was fine. The food. It was one of the best hotel breakfasts that we had - ever - made even better when you have a choice of in room dining which they will set up all the food that you select from the menu. The Bianched mueslis, Nasi goreng and Bihun goreng was simply fantastic among other things. Service (with butlers too) was top class and everything was arranged for you by a 50-strong staff serving a mere 12 rooms and villas. Nuff said. Location has seminyak street right at the back which is useful, but the authentic and cheaper goods is really in Ubud which is an hour away. Get a car for about 350k IDR, with Waze and you can't go wrong with the sights. Quite simply, this villa is not just an accommodation, it's an experience!

Absolutely divine stay at The Amala for 3 nights in a spa villa. As I was travelling on my own, I was offered a 2hour spa treatment per day, which was pure luxury and one of the best massages I have ever had! If you are looking to get away from the big resorts and after a more boutique and intimate style setting, this is definitely the place. The facilities are sophisticated and modern and the gardens, pool and general ambience of the place is gorgeous. As for the staff, I cannot speak highly enough of the whole team. They were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to assist me when my return flight was cancelled. The breakfast menu was delicious and the restaurant overlooking the pool really is beautiful. The Nasi Goreng was a highlight! It is a bit of a walk to Eat Street, but the driver is able to drop you off at one of the hotels on the beach. There is a yoga centre just 1minute down the road, so I was able to do yoga every morning. It also felt very safe and secure for female travellers on their own. I would most definitely return to The Amala. A BIG thank-you to the staff for making my stay so enjoyable. I am already planning my next holiday there next year!

Location: Beautiful place in Seminyak. It was our last leg of the journey after staying in Lembongan and Ubud. A sharp right turn was required. Once we entered the place, it was pleasant to be back with nature. It was a lovely walk from the heart of Seminyak to the hotel. We even found little pathways that led back to the hotel (thanks to Google map). Lovely area to explore with clean inner paths (not the main roads). We asked for a guided map of the area and was disappointed to receive a general map. Suggest to prepare a little walkabout and customize guide maps for the guests, instead of the commercial maps.Hotel: The place was beautifully done with bamboo and greenery. We stayed in the Spa Villa and as the hotel was next to the main road, we were lucky to have a room slightly in the middle of the compound. The massage was brilliant!! We love our spa therapists and wanted to have more treatments all the time, but unfortunately it was fully booked. The spa was clean and the therapists were professional. They knew how to treat those back shoulder knots with ease! This should be the highlight of the hotel. We love the cucumber juice and ginger tea too. Apart from our lovely therapists (sorry forgotten their names but will always remember!), we even had the opportunity to meet most of the staffs, Keiko-San, Amelie, Andy, Chef Wayan and Crew! Chef Wayan taught us how to make lovely Indonesian food. We even met the 2 resident cats. We had an early flight and the staff prepared boxed breakfast for us to eat in the car on the way to the hotel. Very thoughtful.Room: The room/villa was beautifully done. The amenities were plenty. However, the downside was the mosquitoes and ants. There was no turn down service in the evening as the maintenance crew only sprayed more insecticide. Would be great if the toilet could be upgraded to have a bidet. ( this would be VERY useful). The Frangipani by the villa pool was beautiful but it kept dropping into the water and had to "clean" the pool constantly to ensure the water flows. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend.

The Amala was hands down one of the best places we stayed in Bali. Their service was impeccable. We had all the amenities of a five star hotel with the attached price and frankly I thought I got more than if I would have stayed anywhere else. It's a little farther from the beach but the service makes up for it. Thank you!!

The Amala is the perfect boutique hotel. The very limited number of rooms provides a feeling of intimacy. Villas are nicely decorated and well organized. Having a private pool is a always a great experience. Staff are professional, caring and competent. They will do your best to accomodate your requests with friendly, smiling positive attitude. The Amala is a beautiful place to relax a few days and to forget all the fuss of the daily life. Pricewise it is not more expensive than any large upmarket hotel chain and you really have an outstanding experience tailored to your expectations and desires.

I visited the Amala for 3 nights in March 2015 with my boyfriend. Our stay was exceptional from start to finish. The service was some of the best I have experienced anywhere around the world, no request was too small and the staff were friendly and provided a personalised experience. The Amala is a short taxi to the main beach in Seminyak or a pleasant walk through the shops and cafes. We were collected from the airport (even though we arrived at separate times and my boyfriend arrived late at night). The staff also arranged transport around Seminyak when required. The welcome massage was absolutely incredible. Again one of the best massages I've had anywhere! We upgraded from a deluxe room to a pool villa and it was phenomenal. We really felt like we were staying in our own little paradise. We had dinner in the villa one night and the food was wonderful. As you can tell I'd really recommend the Amala. Perfect for a couples holiday, or I'd love to go back with a bigger group of friends for a special occasion and book out the bigger villa!

This December 2nd we went for our Honeymoon cum First Wedding Anniversary to The Amala,Seminyak for 4 nights and 5 days. We had booked the honeymoon package. One word to summarize the entire experience is simply WOW!!! From the moment we entered that is from the airport private pick-up to the reception area and finally to our pool villa where we were welcomed with two glasses of sparkling champagne everything was so smoothly handled by the staff of The Amala. We had villa no.11 which was spectacularly maintained everyday from fresh towels, bed linens to complimentary cookies and locally grown exotic fruits and not to forget the mini bar was well stocked each day. The complimentary breakfast which one could enjoy in their own pool villa was truly delicious, one can order anything from the breakfast menu which was tastefully done by their chef. Pool area in our villa was the best as we could relax and unwind after a day out in the city. Even our Kintamani Volcano tour and Ubud village tour was nothing short of perfection. We also had yoga and thai massage class which completely de-stressed us and a special mention to their yoga instructor he totally had magic fingers, all the strained muscles and knots were lifted instantaneously. Spa treatment too is worth mentioning as they really pampered us with bali chocolate scrub and all the aromatic oils and lotions. Last but not the least, our Candlelight dinner at the privacy of our own villa was so immaculately presented and well curated by their Chef, from well selected white wine to the well-done beef fillet(as we personally prefer) to the green tea creme brulee. All in all we felt extremely pampered by The Amala and its staff. Its a must visit haven on your bucket list esply if you on your honeymoon to Bali. Thank You to the Staff of Amala, you were amazing!! See you again whenever we visit Bali.
