There might be other guests staying at the resort during the training and you are kindly asked to adhere to common etiquette and house rules and be mindful of others.
Just like the original 200-hour program, Yoga Here & There's foundational 250-hour program is multi-style. During the morning practice, you will focus on a different yoga style each week. During the evening practice, various yoga and mindfulness aspects will be shared with you, such as meditation, voice and body expression, Yin and Restorative yoga, and much more. Late mornings and early afternoons are dedicated to indispensable anatomy lessons, captivating philosophy classes, interactive asana labs, and invaluable teacher’s toolbox sessions.
Most of all, however, you will be given the opportunity to practice that which you come for: teaching. Several hours a week, you will get to apply what you have seen and heard during classes and lectures. Through feedback and training, you will develop your teaching skills; you will leave with experience, confidence, and inspiration; ready to teach the second you leave the shala.
The 250-hour training is an intensive program of 29 days and is currently run on the grounds of Kelapa Cottage, Amed, Bali. This beautiful family-run resort is located on the east coast of Bali, away from the overcrowded tourist areas.
Their mission is to make the world understand that a hug, a deep breath in, a prayer, and a handstand are all yoga. They believe that yoga is suitable for people of all ages, sizes, conditions, and backgrounds; and yes, yoga can be challenging but not because you must be able to stand on your head (which you really don’t need to).
Though Yoga Here & There remains students forever themselves, they intend to spread a genuine love for the eight limbs of yoga across the globe by teaching a variety of styles and paths of yoga. They want to contribute to a sustainable world where all can live with more respect, empathy, and love for each other and the planet. They do this by creating a safe space where they welcome everybody.
Whilst upholding the highest quality standards, they aim to make yoga accessible for everyone. The main objective is to show that there is no one-yoga-fits-all when it comes to practicing or teaching. What you practice, may not be the right practice for someone else and may not be what you need later. You are encouraged to always have an open and flexible mind.
This 250-hour course is a foundational training. Yoga Here & There chooses to give you a wide view of what yoga can be, making sure you get to learn about all the underlying principles and traditions of yoga. Whilst you come out of this training with more skills and experience than the average 200-hour courses, they hope is that you will continue searching and studying after the program, designing your yoga journey according to your needs and in turn, supporting your students to do the same.

A typical day would look more or less like this:
Each morning you will practice asana, meditation, and/or pranayama. These morning practices cover three dynamic yoga styles: Hatha, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa, including self-practice sessions. Whilst the focus of these morning sessions is for you to improve your practice, these classes are also an opportunity to observe how to run a class efficiently, safely, and inclusively in various ways.
The evening sessions can also be asana, meditation, and pranayama but will focus on the more gentle types of practices. This could be Yin, Restorative, Dynamic meditation, Yoga Nidra, Voice and body expression, or any other mindfulness practice. Whilst the objective of these evening sessions is for you to enjoy some stress release and restorative practices, they are also a way to learn how to run slower-paced and mindful classes and workshops.
Aside from asana practice, the course will also provide in-depth presentations about various yoga styles. Delve into the history, philosophy, and lineage of the yoga style in question; the technical aspects of the style, the benefits, and general contraindications for each practice. Yoga Here & There will help you understand which yoga style is appropriate for who and why. You will learn the same about pranayama, meditation, and other yoga-related practices such as Kriyas and chanting.
During these workshops, you will de- and reconstruct the most fundamental yoga asanas. You will dissect each pose, demonstrate the alignment which can vary per yoga style and the potential physical limitations. You will point out contraindications and the injury risks and go through various modifications for each pose, including the use of props and introduce possible adjustments and assists.
Have you ever experienced adjustments that didn't make any sense to your body? The knowledge you gain in Asana Labs is essential for the well-being of your students and is of great benefit to your own practice.
This module gives you all the general tools you need to lead an inclusive, safe, and engaging class or workshop. You will discuss what yoga is and how yoga can mean something different to different people. You will learn about what it takes to be the best kind of teacher you can be. You get presentations on how to prepare a class, including classroom management, sequencing a funky flow, how to cue clearly, and how to adapt to unexpected circumstances.
Yoga Here & There emphasizes how important it is for you to find your own teaching personality so that your students will see your value and your intentions for what they are.
Above all, this training focuses on giving you as much teaching time as possible. You are given teaching practice assignments on several occasions, leading to a final teaching assessment in the last week. They will build up your teaching experience from teaching a single asana in the first week to several longer classes towards the end of the program.
You will learn how to closely observe your students and get the opportunity to experiment in teaching different styles, pranayama, meditation, and mindfulness practices. You will be constantly encouraged to find your personal teaching style.
You will be presented with essential and basic knowledge of the human body and learn how it applies to yoga (asana) practice. You will extensively deal with the musculoskeletal system and touch upon the nervous system and the fascial meridians. Yoga Here & There will make these classes as interactive as possible to give you a practical understanding of this scientific subject. Injury management and prevention are an important part of this subject. You will also get to expand on yogic anatomy, the subtle body, and prana; including chakras, koshas, and bandhas.
This module covers the historical development, fundamental concepts, and scriptures of yoga philosophy. In many yoga schools, this aspect of yoga is overlooked, reducing yoga to a mere physical exercise. You do not need to be a spiritual hippie to find these classes fascinating. They cover many subjects ranging from different philosophies and ancient practices of yoga to important historical texts.
To complete the program, Yoga Here & There offers several other subjects that are relevant to yoga from Business Aspects of Yoga to Yogic Lifestyle. They will share many personal and professional experiences in order to make sure that the course is well-rounded, inclusive, and the best start for your journey along the path of teaching yoga.

The entire course takes place on the grounds of Kelapa Cottage in Amed, Bali. Kelapa Cottage is located in Amed, on the east coast of Bali. It is a small family-run resort set against the hills forming the rugged coast of Amed.
The ocean is about a 10-minute walk or a two-minute scooter ride away. Amed is one of the many little fishing villages that line the rugged coast on the northeast side of Bali. It is a quiet little town compared to tourist hubs like Ubud and Seminyak. There are plenty of charming restaurants, warungs (local eateries), cafés with healthy and unhealthy food, a few mobile food carts, and heaps of small and slightly bigger shops and supermarkets.
The main activities in Amed are scuba diving, freediving, trekking, and yoga. This is also the place to catch a boat to the famous Gili Islands. All the basics are available in Amed (mozzie spray, snacks, toiletries, etc.). However, there is no doctor, medical center, or pharmacy in town. The closest medical facilities are in Amlapura, which is 14 kilometers away.
The restaurant offers three vegetarian meals a day specially prepared for the teacher training students, vegan and gluten-free meals are possible (upon prior request). Ordering à la carte from the restaurant's menu is possible throughout the day at a special discounted rate for trainees.
Kelapa Cottage provides spa services, a laundry service, and can help you organize day trips or other activities such as scuba diving courses on your days off. Extras such as drinks, laundry, and day trips are to be paid directly to Kelapa Cottage upon check-out. Spa services are also available in the resort at an additional cost.
Ngurah Rai International Airport
Transfer not provided
Please arrange your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar (DPS). Transfer to the resort is not included in the package since many guests prefer to make their own arrangements. Please contact Kelapa Cottage directly to organize a taxi for you from the airport or wherever you are to the resort.
If you are already somewhere in Bali before the course, you might be able to find shuttles which you share with other travelers. They take a little longer but are cheaper than private taxis. Another option is to look for a shared taxi ride on Facebook pages such as Amed Bali Community. To get in and around Amed, the resort can help you organize taxis, scooters, and bicycles. Many places in Amed can be reached by simply walking as well.
