With the continuous bombardment of technology into people's lives, there is an ever greater need to not just go on a retreat but to actually have space for yourself to be alone. There are many ways to quieten the mind and there are numerous meditation techniques to assist you. Find one that suits you, listen from within, and if this feels right, then it's probably the right one for you. Also, be with a teacher that you have an affinity towards as their energy will affect you.
During this retreat, you will be staying in a full apartment set on a small private road leading to the two famous white beaches, Cala Lleyna and Cala Mastella. In the garden grounds around the duplex house, you can sit and meditate, swing on a hammock, or rock gently on a Balinese bed.
The indoor yoga area looks over into the garden terrace in the winter. In summer, you will do meditation on the roof with sea views. The place is blessed with wonderful views of the sea and sunrise from the roof terrace so that you can enjoy an early session of sunrise meditation.
The very word silence conjures a relaxed state of let go of ease, so imagine how much more when you give yourself the space to be silent. Switch off that mobile phone, the social media, the emails, and then finally your mind.
This is not so easy for you to achieve in a world where you are continuously being distracted, the intellect has taken over such precedence in your everyday life that to switch off the mind is no easy feat where you are swamped with the I-Phone and Android phones being your life line to living, they are no longer a luxury but are a necessity. Lets not even begin to imagine the damage they are doing with their frequency signals bombarding your own energy aura.
The heart is not even a close second to the intellect mind in today's functioning world, it can be said that it's in the emergency ward. Being silent allows you to connect to yourself in a way that no one can. It's aligning with your own wholeness and giving freedom to the witness within yourself.
A practice of awakening always has a component of silence. The silence is charged to feed your spirit, which is starved without the gap of silence. The body’s energy is automatically recharged from within oneself, a sort of self healing. The more one practices and taps into this innate intelligence, the more alert and awake one becomes.
Arrive and settle in on Saturday, classes will start on Sunday. Meditation is early morning at 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with an option of an early morning meditation from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. followed by tea. Breakfast follows the meditation practice and is organic. There will be also group chanting sessions, meditation sessions by sea and nature, and mindfulness walks.
The weekend meditation retreat includes mindfulness walks.
Shakti Shira Bassi has been training for over 15 years in Power and Sivananda yoga in India. Shakti, or London Mata as she is affectionately known by the Indian saints of the Kumbh Mela, is a yogi in life and lives yoga as living from the heart. She has undertaken travels to all sacred high energy sites such as Tibet, Nepal, Israel, and Egypt.
This retreat will be held at a cozy duplex apartment in the town of Lleyna in Ibiza, Spain. The magical island and the homely ashram-feel are designed to give a deeply nurturing space of peace where you can relax your body, calm your mind, and awaken. The place is located within walking distance from the beach and the pine forests. The sea is a short walk away to the beaches of Calla Mastella and Calla Lleyna.
All the food served in this retreat should be vegetarian or vegan, and sourced from the local farms. There are local restaurants and you are free to bring in food and use the kitchen.
