With her diploma and certificate in hand, Leyla flew to Ethiopia. She has traveled a lot and had various journeys through Africa before settling in Jinja, Uganda. She became qualified as a yoga teacher in 2008 with Africa Yoga and has been teaching extensively over the world since then. Initially drawn to the dynamic nature of Ashtanga and its power and moving meditation qualities, she has now softened herself and prefers to teach Vinyasa Flow.
Deidre is a certified yoga teacher specialized in Vinyasa Flow and Kundalini yoga. She first started practicing yoga in 2000, after she sustained a knee injury. She quickly realized that yoga was much more than a physical practice and she took her first yoga teacher training with Yoga Tree in 2008. Deidre has taught Kundalini and Bhakti yoga in Uganda, Jackson Hole, and San Francisco. Her students are encouraged to flow from the heart space. Yoga has been becoming a path of truth for her, a way to heal old traumas and become more conscious in her life.
Payal is a biotechnologist turned yoga teacher. Since she was a child, she found herself very curious about the mind, body, and soul connection. Until the age of 23, Payal had a regular yoga practice as a part of her culture, not paying much attention to it. At the age of 24, due to a major shift in her life, she left her job in one of the most competitive environments in the world and took a break. This is when she re-discovered her enthusiasm for yoga. She dedicated the next year deepening her own practice with several teachers in India, and in 2014, she became a full-time yoga teacher.
I have just come back from a wonderful yoga weekend in Northern Kenya with Leyla. She guided us through energizing sunrise practices, intensive workshops, and powerful sunset Yin sessions with grace and a lovely warmth. She encouraged me to push past my assumptions of what I could do, including new hip-opening and balance poses that I cannot wait to improve in my personal practice. Looking forward to our next class.

Leyla is an excellent yogini and teacher! She qualifies on her own as a renewable energy source. She was one of two tremendous yogis who led a mindful, thoughtful, vigorous, and rewarding three-day retreat in Laikipia. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Leyla's retreat was well planned and well executed. It felt like exactly the right balance between relaxation and working towards goals in classes. Leyla is intuitive and empowering while working with students and the entire atmosphere of the retreat was blanketed in positivity. I left having achieved new goals and with a renewed commitment to my practice.
The yoga retreat I did with Leyla was fantastic. Leyla is a great teacher. She is very motivational and adapted the classes to my level and the objectives I had for the week. It was a challenging week and I feel that my yoga and meditation practices advanced a lot, thanks to the expert guidance and support Leyla provided. She also showed me around Jinja and organized a number of other activities for me outside of yoga. Jinja is a wonderful place to do a yoga retreat; very relaxing and peaceful but also with the opportunity to do a number of other activities if you so wish. I would highly recommend this retreat.

The yoga retreat with Leyla in Jinja was just magical! Leyla is a fantastic yoga teacher and host, and the Source of the Smile guesthouse is wonderfully welcoming. Jinja is a beautiful and friendly area. I would thoroughly recommend any of Leyla's retreats, she is truly caring and inspirational.
Highly recommended for most of us, this has been an amazing journey. MRL is a fabulous retreat. The location is stunning, service impeccable, food wholesome and delicious, and, most of all, I enjoyed my morning and afternoon yoga with Leyla Ahmet Meredith, who has helped me on this transformational trip with her positive healing energy complemented with her Shiatsu and Reiki practice.
Uganda was magnificent! Leila was fun, patient, and very helpful. Where we stayed in Entebbe on arrival was amazing, being able to hear the chimps in the park from our rooms and see them run around in the park was amazing, we even had a giraffe eating outside of the room. Murchison Falls, where we spent most of our time, was a beautiful area where the guides were well informed and fun to be around. The tents we lived in were clean and comfortable and the food was tasty. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants experience with lots of wildlife, a great instructor, friendly people, and breathtaking scenery.

I have had the pleasure of taking classes with Leyla during two yoga retreats. Her approach, while thoughtful and serious, is also fun. Leyla meets each person in the class where they are, whether beginner or advanced, with openness and a lack of pretense. The result is that she brings each of us along in the practice, going further than we thought we could go. She is a joy to know, as a teacher and as a person.
It was so lovely to spend time with you and your teaching was amazing! I was raving to my mother, a long-time yogini, who I used to make fun of for doing yoga, about your flows because we so often get tired of the same transitions or routines. It was so nice to practice with a fresh and different routine. Thank you!
Leyla is one of those special teachers who truly lives her yoga and inspires you to do the same. She carries a sense of energy and light both on and off the mat, infusing each moment with her vitality, adventurous spirit, and positivity. Leyla's teaching is thoughtfully sequenced and challenging but with a bit of playfulness to keep it soft and fluid. She brings a depth of knowledge of Ayurveda, alignment, and the healing arts, which she incorporates into her classes, sometimes in surprising ways. To practice with Leyla is to be touched by her beautiful spirit... enjoy.
Thanks for reaching me and also organizing this yoga retreat. It was a pleasure to attend it, it was my first one, and I have noticed how is it important for a person to have a retreat from time to time. All my body is sore from the yoga practices but what is most important is my mind is clearer and very peaceful. Also, all this good energy, it was wonderful. Having yoga next to the beach, it is super relaxing! Although I felt a little bit uncomfortable at the beginning since I was the only guy, but it was fine for me later on. The weekend gave more space and time to connect deeper, it is amazing. The inner journey is not easy but it is worth every single step to go for it. Thank you, Leyla!
