The yoga instructor Rose will take you through a series of asana’s, building on them each day, giving options to the beginners and challenges for those who have been practicing for a while. Zen is not a religion, it is a way of life and will not diminish your own faith but enhance it. Zen Master Fushin will teach how you can recognize your own suffering and a way out of it.

During this holiday, you will be accommodated in Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat, a panoramic and secluded retreat center overlooking the Conondale Valley and the mountains beyond. The temperate climate there allows beautiful gardens to flourish, bringing in prolific birdlife and fauna.

Kintamani Room

The Kintamani Room has a single bunk on top and a double bed on the bottom and has an ensuite bathroom. It is for a maximum of two people.

Uluwatu Room

The Uluwatu room has a single bunk on top and a double bed on the bottom. It is for a maximum of two people. Two single guests may share the bunk room. The Ubud and Uluwatu rooms share a large bathroom with twin vanities and a separate toilet.

The Ubud Room

The Ubud room has two single beds. It is for a maximum of two people.

The Garden Rooms

There are 2 garden rooms, each with a single bed. It is for a maximum of one person in each room. The Garden rooms share a large bathroom.

Location

This retreat will take place in Wootha, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, nearby Maleny and Montville. The Hinterland has many beautiful drives, walks, parks, and waterfalls. It is a very popular bed and breakfast location for the Brisbane market.

The famous Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo is nearby. The area is very beautiful, a lovely way to start any international holiday commencing in Brisbane. There is one acre of gardens where birds, wallabies, and koalas live.

Food

The meals are mindfully prepared vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free from thousand-year-old recipes from along the Silk Road.

Each day, breakfast will consist of a toasting item with spreads, cereal, fruit juice, and yogurt. Vegans and dairy-free guests will be supplied with either a chia pudding or a vegan yogurt. Gluten-free guests will be supplied with a gluten-free cereal.

Day 1

Dinner:

  • Mediterranean spinach and ricotta canneloni - Vegetarian
  • Greek salad - Vegan, gluten-free (remove Feta and it is vegan and dairy-free)
  • Homemade bread - vegetarian
  • Vegan, gluten-free option available when advised - chickpea curry

Day 2

Lunch: Make your own salad sandwich or wrap or just enjoy a salad on its own

Dinner:

  • Bengali zucchini and potato curry - vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free
  • Served with Persian rice - vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free
  • Raita - a cucumber and yogurt side accompaniment for the curry - vegetarian, gluten-free
  • Fresh fruit

Day 3

Lunch: Zucchini salad, lettuce and egg with bread

Dinner:

  • Entrée: Hommus, Turkish bread and olives (rice crackers for gluten-free guests) - vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free
  • Moroccan Lentil Tomato Soup (Harira) - vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free
  • Served with homemade sourdough and olive bread - vegetarian, vegan

Day 4

Lunch: Rocket salad, fresh beetroot, feta with wraps served with Hommus

Important info

  • If you are vegan, dairy-free or gluten-free, Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat requires a minimum of 1 week notice prior to your arrival to ensure we have the products for you at hand.
  • For gluten-free guests, 1 loaf of gluten-free bread will be supplied for the 3 and 4-day retreats. 2 loaves will be supplied for the 5, 6 or 7-day retreats.
  • Gluten-free and dairy-free guests, please advise if products that say “May contain……” is a problem
  • Other allergies - you can advise of your allergies and Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat may be able to conform but not in all instances.
  • Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat apologizes in advance if your allergy causes Anaphylactic shock, due to their remote location, they feel it would be irresponsible to accept you as their guest. Thank you for understanding.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Brisbane Airport (BNE). Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat does not offer airport transfer. There is a company that can do an airport transfer into Maleny for 90 AUD one way (and then Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat would pick you up at no cost from Maleny).

The best option from Brisbane Airport (BNE) is to catch the train to Landsborough train station. Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat can do a pick up from Landsborough train station.

Arrival by train / bus

Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat can arrange a free pick-up from Maleny if you are travelling by train / bus. There is a bus link (#891) from the Landsborough train station that will bring you up the hill to Maleny.

Arrival by car

From the M1 take the Steve Irwin Way and turn into Landsborough and continue towards Maleny. Turn left at Mountain View Road. At the end of Mountain View Road, turn left onto Maleny-Stanley River Road. Drive 5 kilometers then turn right into Policeman Spur Road. Drive 1 kilometers and turn right into Boundary Lane, you will see their sign.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
